Dawn of WAR II

OMFG I am so intredibly excited now, the guys that do these movies are just incredible, I just wish they would do a hole film.

A German filmaker almost did (apparently it looked like it was going to be a good one too), but international copyright forced them the cease production

When she point at the sky, was she pointing at a chaos storm that was brewing, or was it a swarm of tyranids?

You can check out most of their stuff here: http://www.blur.com/

They are awesome. My favorite part of the first DoW was the intro haha.

I was of the understanding some guys called Plastic Wax did this one.

Tyranids ahoy. Yessaaaaa.

Hardly, you can't base a game plot around an unthinking unfeeling swarm of drones linked to an unspeaking unfeeling hivemind thats only motivation is to consume.

It'd involve them coming down, fighting some, and then going, cinematics full of "hissss chitter chitter" is hardly interesting.

I'm going with Chaos, they have actual characters and interesting plot devices.

I was thinking they'd go for the angle of not showing much of the tyranids, and having the other races which are gathered there inexplicably be the main focus, while the huge threat of the tyranids looms around them.

Possible, but what is 40k without an insidious plot from the chaos menace to defraud the Imperium of a world so they it can threaten Eldar and Imperials everywhere?.

This is how I would see my battles in the tabletop game working out.

But I was Tau, so I always lost CC.

Why would some FMV which is basically just some action with corny cliched lines get you excited about a game?

Because were 40k nerds, and we dream of seeing 40k rendered this way, bringing it to life if you will, a universe of countless cliches, countless rip-offs and murders of cultures foreign and past to be assimilated into the sprawling unwieldy fiction only one of nerdish dedication could unravel and understand. We dream of Eldar biznitches in tight fitting wraithbone armour, and of big hulking testosterone filled (yet castrated...strangely...) supermen with big guns and even bigger chainswords, for us to marvel at in a completely not gay way.

We yearn to see the fire and splosions and laser pew pews in our minds eyes realized on screen, and to cry 2FOR THE EMPEROR!".

Meh.
Each to their own.

I suppose you guys are all Kim Newman worshippers too?

awesome trailer! thanks for sharing
i might finally get into this series

Meh.
Each to their own.

This.

I must've rolleyed at least a dozen times during that clip.

They were all like: "Hey I know, I'll go running like an idiot to attack a heavy armored/armed soldier with a sword?! Who's with me?"

More like "Hey lets get in close and attack them in melee since they dont have any melee weapons, that way we dont get blasted to bits in a firefight between us with our pistols and them with their heavy armor and high caliber machine guns! Who's with me?"

Anyways, it still wasnt as good as the original's intro.

Yet again, another truely ****ing epic intro. They REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY need to make a film.

Getting it instantly as I have love the DoW games, only problem is I cant play them online at the moment since my router is being gay, must resolve it before this comes out. Relic truely are RTS masters.

The first one was better paced/more epic than this one.

Needed more 'splosions. Still pumped for it though.

I still wish someone would make a game focused on Epic: Armageddon 40k, it would be so awesome.

I don't like the fact that the past 2 warhammer games we have had the human factions fighting each other (Imperials <> Marines) and (Imperials <> Sisters <> Marines). If inhouse fighting has been a problem, then I don't know why the Imperium hasn't crumbled already. There should be some sort of AI coop, whereby you play as one ofthe factions and the AI take over the other two.

Seriously at the moment the Tau, and possibly the Elder are the only two races that appeal to me

Epic: Armageddon 40k, it would be so awesome.
Someone is doing that in the SupCom engine as a mod

The first one was good to, but kinda let itself down by the fact the dumb ass marines charged up a hill against a mob or orks rather then hold that obviously defendable position picking off orks as they tried in vain to take them out. Especially more so since the marines weren't CC troops.

I had no gripes with the second one that were any worse then the first, both are good.

I was thinking more true to the tabletop, like turn-based.

The tabletop game is shockingly boring.

Shift, you mean W40k or Epic: Armageddon? If you don't like tabletop games then yes, W40k is boring, but there are plenty who like it and even love it.

Meh I was never into it, just take too long and too many gay rules consider.

I never got into warhammer 40K so I never played dawn of war. I can't be bothered paying a fortune to get figurines to paint and play with :|

I got into 40k despite not having figurines and playing the tabletop game anymore(I played it like twice when I was younger), I buy Warhammer 40k comics and books and read, because the W40k universe is great imo.

The tabletop game is shockingly boring.

Hence why I shat myself with glee when they announced DoW 1.

I'm with Gargantou, tabletop can be boring and expensive, but the fiction is alright.

in my opinion dawn of war is the best multiplayer RTS ever made, dispite the god awful gamespy lobby system.

I prefer World In Conflict over DoW in multiplayer, but to each man his own.

As I said to each man his own.

Bob_Marley, yeah I've played all SSIs Warhammer-based games, they're all kickass imo, shame SSI went under.

I thought the WIC multiplayer was ridiculous.

Personally I think the WIC/Ground Control model would have been the best for a WH40K game. Assemble your strike team, pick the squad weapon set up you want, land, do the job, fall back to the extraction LZ and back to the orbiting cruiser for tea and medals. And all with none of this base building nonsence.

Really? Even Rights of War?
