Dawn of War: SoulStorm demo released!

oo, 20kb/s now. I'll tell you what it's like in about 18 hours -.-

Sounds good though, 2 new races and such to play with (Only the DE in this demo tho)
 
the guy that runs the website said you'll get better results by using 'flashget' download manager. i was skeptical but i just downloaded it and will be done in 2 hours instead of 8.
 
I like how the first half of the video is ENTIRELY devoted to useless company logos.
 
Aussie mirror no wonder your getting slow speeds. We get priority for bandwidth and Internode customers get priority above that.
 
I'll download this when I have the HD space. Looks good. Even if the Sisters look like girl Space Marines.

Yes, I read the fluff, I know they're more than that, they just look like that, shut up.
 
Sisters of Battle is a very interesting choice, wonder why they went for that?! Perhaps the tyranids or something would have been better.

I'm trying to download dark crusaide now off steam but its taking for ever :(

theyve said that they wouldnt be able to do tyrannids justice properly in DoW, so theyre saving them for dow2. and the sisters of battle have the best units out the remaining unused races, good choice imo
 
Sisters of Battle are about as interesting as feth, they need to stop pussyfooting around the fact that people want to put Cadians on the line against a ridiculous horde of Tyranids.

But either way, I want to see more Imperial Guard units and factions anyway. Tanith Ghost stealthers and Elysian drop troopers please.
 
Eh, the intro was no where NEAR as good as the originals video. One of the best intros in any game IMO.
 
I'll wait for a month or two, maybe 3 down the road when I've forgotten about this, see it in a local game store, buy it dirt cheap and play it a while before losing interest.

Coincidently I got HL2 quite a while after its release. :)

I just rarely seem to be bothered enough to buy a game at release.

I might camp out for Spore but thats an exception. :laugh:

Can't you wait until they release the password? it's only a demo of a game with a tried and test gameplay with a few new races, I doubt the new races are worth the turn of tide in the hour of battle.

Meh, I'll play this when I get back home.

...And then I got my first Baneblade out, group up with my Lemu Russ' and started to absolutely blow the shit out of everyone else on the map.


IG are awesome, the only thing cooler then the tide of humanity holding xenos and heretic scum at bay is the inevitable hammer of the Emperor coming down swiftly on the enemy, caught between the immovable anvil of men and the irresistible might of the armoured hammer, all eventually succumb.



....Though a space wolf terminator is cool to, ever since I read that short story about the wolf guard surviving a titan stepping on him....epic...

Space marines and guard. Best armies ever.

Yeah. It is awesome. I prefer the guard more than any other race; they are the only guys that are... human.

OT: I wonder why they now seem to concentrate on 40K instead of fantasy. I thought the latter was more popular, or am I wrong?
 
Fantasy is getting an MMORPG next year.

I prefer 40K anyway. More silly, more awesome.
 
Well Relic/THQ did recently aquire the rights to make a 40k MMO, so...
 
Bah, been playing dark crusaide. It seems needlessly hard. I'm not to sure if I like the structre of the campain map and the maps are really lacking in detail. It just feels like I'm playing a bunch of skermishes against the computer rather then a single player game which is a pain.

Just wishing I bought the new company of heroes insted.
 
Dawn of War was the testbed for a lot of ideas in Company of Heroes, so it seems less polished.

btw, how come warhammer 40,000 is racists, theres no black or asian people in the game?
 
It's not? The reason that everyone in the game is white is because it's Gothic, with Space Cathedrals and everythng. Gothic means European people. It's an art style decision, not a flaw of the universe itself. There's plenty of black people around, even black Space Marines.

All Space Marines of the Salamanders chapter are black (due to a flaw in their geneseed, proper space marines change skin colour depending on thier environment). Or the Tallarn Desert Raiders Imperial Guard are heavily insipred by Middle Eastern cultures.

As has been said, its an art choise, also remember that GW is a British Company, where most people are white, so it follows that in a universe that has its basis in how they perceive the world, most inhabitants would be white. Just as if most would be black if the company had been started in the Congo.
 
I was plying this last night, brought back some good memories. Little dissapointed that the graphics havent been amped up, come on peeps I want next gen DoW!! I'll get this when it gets cheaper as I wasnt that impressed with Dark Crusade
 
God damn Sisters of ****ing Battle. I predicted this in the other thread. It's a well known fact no one gives a toss about any race but the Tyranids and Relic are ****ing holding out on us.








I kid! I kid because I love. But love slightly less now because of the no Tyranids thing...
 
DoW isn't worth it for Tyranids anyway. You can't have Starship Troopers style combat with the DoW squad system.
