Yet another important update released from Valve in the same night. This time the update goes to Day of Defeat: Source. In this update are a various number of bug fixes and mild game play changes.
  • Optimizations to debris physboxes
  • Optimizations to lag compensation
  • Increased footstep volume
  • Decreased the recoil on the Allied Garand when in iron sights
…To name a few.[br] The whole changelog for this update can be found here.

Damn... here I was thinking they'd implemented the motion blur, film grain, depth of field, and color balance... wishful thinking, I suppose.

valve always gives us reasons to like them. even if they do try our patience on occasion.

Aw, I was hoping for the cinematic effects.

Nice list of bugfixes though, Valve have (or has) been busy!

When will they be fixing the ListenServers .. sucks no to be able to quicktest your modwork with fellow members ..

I cannot wait for that update. Oh man that will be amazing.

Nice :)
I had been waiting for the garand tweak and the sticky fix.

I was reading an article about those effects last night.

Apparently, depth of field and motion blur don't run in real time on today's cards. In that trailer, each frame took about 2 seconds to render, apparently.

The colour correction and film grain stuff is real-time, though.

I'm liking the update. Props to valve for constantly making this game better and better.

Not even the X1800's ? :O

EH? :|

If this is true, what was the video supposed to be demonstrating?

Are these effects going to be kept in Valve's labs until the time of superpowered, futuristic graphics hardware?
Or do they want us to get accustomed to 0.25 fps?

I have been misled ;(

Umm we're only getting film grain and color balance, motion blur and DOF is too intense for our current hardware.

When I render Source stuff to hard disk (using the built in demo file -> tga recording) it takes a second or so to render each frame, and I assume they (valve) were doing the same - even if they don't render in real-time I don't care, because I have very little need to ever use them in realtime.
