I just watched two episodes, just nearly for the nostalgia and to remind me of one of the best shows I watched when I was younger.

Besides the improved textures, I just can't stand the new music they have - it just screams Pokemon, even the ****ing intro is Pokemon-ish. Where the **** is Bruce Faulconer music? I was hoping when Goku vs. Vegeta happened that Hells Bells would play. grrrr

Anyone else?

Haven't watched it but Dragon Ball Z with all the crap cut sounds like it could be fun. Has the voicework been rerecorded or the original?
 
It's rerecorded, most of the voice actors are returning like Sean Schemmel as Goku, Sonny Strait as Krillin, Chris Sabat as Piccolo and Vegeta, but they use a different voice actor for young Gohan.
 
You just can't have Chris Sabat as Saiyan saga Vegeta. It doesn't work. Likewise, Drummond doesn't work past Frieza saga.

And there is no Piccolo but Scott McNeil. Even Toriyama says so. Sabat as Piccolo SUCKS.
 
Hmmm, this makes me want to go rewatch all the Dragaon Ball Z: Abridged episodes again......

Also, didn't know they redid DBZ, will have to check out.
 
It's Dragonball Z touched up and with the filler cut out. Specifically, they're reducing a 290 episode show to a 100 episode show.

I'll agree with you on the part on the Saiyan saga, but Sabat is just perfect for the Frieza saga - nobody says "I'M THE PRINCE OF ALL SAIYANS, BITCH!" better than Chris Sabat. Drummond as Vegeta with over 9000!

I grew up with Sabat as Piccolo, and his Piccolo will always have a special and nostalgic place in my heart. BTW, I didn't know Toriyama was a English dub man?! :p

Yeah. Once Vegeta started getting all the incredible speeches, Sabat was the man. I love how, because of the two different English VAs, it was like Vegeta's voice matured over time. The switch between the two dub companies, at least where Vegeta was concerned, seemed natural.

BTW, I didn't know Toriyama was a English dub man?! :p

He said that he loved Scott McNeil's Piccolo.

Also, one thing I always found funny, if you listen to Japanese Tien, he sounds like English Piccolo. Japanese Picollo sounds like English Tien.
 
Sorta have to same for Piccolo, since he fused with Nail and later Kami.

I tried watching the first episode of DBK in Japanese. I couldn't stop laughing at Goku's voice. It seemed so hilariously high pitched. I can't take Japanese voice acting in general seriously. If it's not funny it just sounds annoying to me. I don't have this problem with European languages. Perhaps it's just too foreign for me.
 
I like Goku's .jp voice, but I will admit it had to grow on me over time.
 
Can't believe I'm watching this online...haha.

Is it just me or is the japanese Goku voice sound like a girl? I laugh every time I hear the japanese Goku say "Kaaaa-meee-haaameee-HAAAA!" with Sean it sounds more powerfull.

I also have to concur about the Japanese voices sucking aswell, as a matter of fact... I can't stand the OST of the Japanese version, its too Transformers GEE WUN for my taste (ala 1980's). Mother ****ing damnit, I miss Bruce Faulconer's scores.... why the **** did Funi fire him?
 
It is a girl, so is Gohan. So was the English Gohan till he was teenage, though they have someone else doing his young voice this time around I heard.
 
Yeah, English young Gohan and Cell saga Gohan is voiced by a girl (who also voiced kid Goku). In the Saiyaman/Majin Buu saga, Adult Gohan is voiced by a man.

I think kid Trunks is voiced by a girl, too.
 
I don't like how Chris Sabat changed his voice for Vegeta in the new dub. It's a little bit huskier and deeper, but it sounds really forced. It just doesn't sound right for Vegeta's demeanor in the saiyan and frieza sagas. The dialogue in Kai is pretty terrible, it's worse than the ocean and original funi dub IMO.

This is the best vegeta clip ever. i love the rape face at the end.
