Anyways, DDR2 is just another form of memory to allow higher memory clock speeds. That is all. You don't see DDR2 used that much in video cards, because it is expensive to use and DDR memory used in graphics card were able to scale much higher than previously thought. If you want to overclock with a 9800 Pro, spending the extra money on a 9800 Pro with DDR 2 maybe a good idea.
DDR2 isn't used in any of the new high-end graphics cards because, DDR2 is simply too expensive and not fast enough. So video card manufacturers are starting to use something called GDDR3. That allows for much higher memory clockspeeds than DDR and DDR2.
DDR2 has a little higher latency but at 600+ speeds it isn't evident. I don't believe DDR3 suffers from higher latency like DDR2.
The 256MB 9800Pro and XT use DDR2. The 6800 and X800 cards actually use DDR3.
Having a card with a different kind of memory does not give you anything special that is not already known about with the cards.
