Deadliest Catch: Captain Phil Harris dies

"It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dad - Captain Phil Harris. Dad has always been a fighter and continued to be until the end," sons Josh and Jake Harris said in a statement released by the network. "For us and the crew, he was someone who never backed down."





I watch every season I can of deadliest catch with my dad. It really is a great show... narrated by the awesome Mike Rowe. It really sucks to have Phil Harris die... as he was one of my favorite captains of the fleet.

I only watched a few episodes of the show here and there, but every time he seemed like the most down to earth guy on there, and just a good fella in general.

Yeah... he really was.

It sucks because he had his massive heart attack... and they thought he was getting better...

But then he dies days later.

Man... I don't know if anybody else is watching Deadliest Catch, but this latest episode was brutal. All the episodes this season as I was watching, were difficult because I can see Phil's condition deteriorating and in this last one, having a stroke or a heart attack or whatever and having to be med-evaced at Saint Paul harbor.

Difficult stuff to watch, especially knowing the eventual outcome.
