Right, so I went to see Death Cab for Cutie at the University of Northumbria Student's Union in Newcastle last night. Bus from Durham was about 45 mins, queued for about 30 mins before we got in.
The venue was pretty large, we were at the front near the barrier, I was unfortunate enough to have my feet resting on the edge of the barrier and the floor which wasn't too comfortable.
Anyway, the music: Supporting band was Vanderslice, who were also indie-ish, but a bit rockier. Never heard of them before so didn't know what to expect but they were pretty cool, songs were well played, etc... They played around 7 songs and then we got Death Cab
For those of you who don't know who they are, basically they're a rather morbid indie band, but the music is kinda happy and the lyrics are well written.
I was quite suprised at how rocky they were given what the albums are like(loud parts, but not quite as much as this), But that's always good thing It was cool to sing along to most of the songs i knew, and they played quite a few old ones, which means i need to go back and listen to their earlier albums a bit more. Was a bit depressed that they didn't play some of my favourite songs(Tiny Vessels, We Looked Like Giants, Transatlanticism), but they did play I Will Follow You into the Dark, which was great
Other songs they played were: Marching Bands of Manhatten, New Year, Soul Meets Body, Sound of Settling, Title and Registration, Different Names for the Same Thing, Brothers on a Hotel Bed, Lightness, Expo '86, Crooked Teeth, What Sarah Said, And quite a few other's i can't remember/name
Overall I had a great time, and I got me a t-shirt too!
