Putting religion aside for the moment, for the sake of discussion...

What do you think the moment of death actually feels like? I'm not talking about what happens after, but the actual part where your life is bleeding away and then...you stop living. Your brain has ceased to function and you can no longer be called a living human being.

Sorry for diverting, but I can't help but giggle at the fact that there's an other topic, created almost at the same time as this, titled "I Am Alive." :D

/me skulks away

I would guess it would be a bit of a combination of falling asleep and passing out.

Yeah but even then you're still running at some capacity. Even when you get knocked out, your subconcious is still going.

Yes I noticed that :p

Its weird; we can't comprehend stuff like that.. thats why we invented religion.

Yea falling asleep. Depends on the death really, I mean if it was a gun to the head, it would just be a big flash, boom, over. I really hate to think after that theres no thinking, no nothing just blank, just boggles my mind.

It really really depends on what you believe will happen next. Because if there is an after-life then I suppose there's this sudden moment when you are no longer in your body - and your next sensation depends on where you go next.
If there isn't then - well I can'teven comprhend it. There probably isn't a moment of concious realisation of your imminent demise. If there was then my great aunt's last words probably wouldn't have been:

"They haven't got any sandwiches."

I read somewhere if you get a experience like an execution you get a full or half boner and sometimes ejaculate during the process.

True story, so dont give me a lame warning for this one

Angel Lust, theres pictures of dead people from all kinds of deaths with erections, cant remember the actual biological, or psychological reasoning for it.

Depends on the method of death. In an instantaneous death it is over well instantly but in a slow death your brain starts to hallucinate due to lack of blood, ie out of body experiences.

what is up with all the threads talking about death and stuff? this forum is getting depressing

A last ditch effort by the body to reproduce or erotic delusions caused by lack of blood to the brain? Im just guessing here.

I find nothingness and infinity to be offensive; please don't talk about them...

I guess it would be like falling asleep, but you actually notice you're falling asleep instead of normal sleep where you sort of drift away.

Well really I have no idea. We'll all get to find out in a while. 'Yay'.

i think you would get that Hollow feeling when you die in a dream and your heart skips a beat, y'know the one ??

Sept your heart stops but you will still be alive because there is still enough oxygen in your brain for you to register and expeience that gut wrenching feeling of being alive with your heart not beating,

Then you get drowsy light headed and die
This is in the case that your die for example of natural causes and your heart just roll over and gives up

OR

Or your body gets so annilahted by a gun or some other misfortunate even and then your heart is strugling to keep you alive long enough for someon to help you and you lay there willing yourself to keep alive take one more breath, and tell your heart to beat again.

Im gunna have nightmares now :(

I think it's a bit obvious: your heart stops, you stop breathing. Your organism ends. There is no heaven. Only black. I mean, not even black, _nothing_ ! You don't exist. You don't think, you don't go to the sky by elevator. Religions take advantage of our fear, our existencial questions... They say to you bee good, and you will live forever in pleasure... or you're "bad" , and you will suffer forever....

Yes, i hate religions, this society, LIES.

Sometimes i think... what matters all this, if in the end we don't exist? Why are we taking life so serious? Why do we want "fame" and immortality by fame, if on the end we don't exist?? We will not even know that we're famous, we will not exist!

Why are we all here, if in the end nothing matters?

Why?

MigaS, I've asked myself that question many times before, and still haven't been able to find an answer. I guess that's why I don't really study, except for some more personal stuff I have to get straight.

Yeah... one plausible answer would be : we work so we can have better lifes (more money, girls) [and the ppl we love have a better life too] and appreciate life the best possible way...

Are you being serious or sarcastic?

And I don't really consern myself with death, I mean, It'll happen when it happens ya know? and I see what happens then, because seriously, No one has a CLUE as to whats going to happen after we die :p

Personally I'm with that Nothingness group. non-existance.

Man, that sucks. If that's true, then I won't be able to make my last words "Scooty Puff Junior suuuuuuuucks!"

It will be silent - im quite sure, just like falling asleep. So... Goodtimes!

I guess it would feel identical to a deep state of astral projection, but without the part where you re-enter your physical body ... where you would go I don't know. Or how long for, or where you'd go after that. One thing I do know, is that we're all going to find out sooner or later.

one thing that I was hav in my crazy since some time was

if I meet a gosht (phantom or dead spirit) and I could talk to it,my first questiong will be how the death feel

that remind me of a joke that I saw on a tv chanel that is this

one guy go to one of that womens that invoque the death person, and the guy ask her to contact whit a friend of he that die some time ago
and the woman contact the friend and the guy say "hey (name) how are you?" friend-"I am fine,I never feel so fine before"-guy-"can I ask you something? how is the death"-friend-"is very cool,is like a baseball game, byt the way the next week you play first base"

what you think of the joke?IMO is very funny

When we fall asleep hours can pass by and we remain completely unaware of it, no dreams, no thinking, no nothing. Its probably the same when you die, you fall asleep only you don't ever wake up. You just essentially spend the rest of eternity in that state where time passes by but you are completely unaware of it occuring.

So to answer the original question: It would feel the exact same as when we fall asleep. Except some added pain might be involved due to whatever it was that caused us to die.

I should think that it's probably like falling into a deep sleep.. just without the waking up part.

I find it quite pointless speculating about death... it's depressing and no one's ever going to know the answer, until they're dead... and by then, well, it doesn't really matter, does it? :p

I believe we create pain with guns, train accidents, and perhaps diseases. So if you feel pain before you die its our fault.

What about heart attacks, cancer, aids, etc?

I think, something start pulling away from your body, starting with your fingers and up slowly to your mouth. And then you kiss your life goodbye

well considering most people die from illness, you'l probably wont be aware when the time comes ...my bet is fear, fear and panic

a good friend of mine died a few years back, feel asleep at the wheel and rolled his car. Cops told us he went thru the windshield but he probaby died of his injuries (broken neck). For years I couldnt get the vision of him lying in the middle of the road dying out of my head ..I could almost hear his death rattle ...drove me nuts for awhile there ..needed to talk to someone about it

i think you fsee brightness and you jus float through the light until you see your "passed over" relatives :D

I think and this is my opinion is that death will be very similar to birth. We will be blissfully unaware that we are dying as we were when we were born.

It is easy to say that we are not afraid of dying but the truth is we are all frightened by what we don't know.

It is the one thing that binds us all together, but if you goes around thinking and worrying about it all the time it would drive you crazy.

Accept, carry on and deal with it when it comes.

Have you ever thought that we were all dead for millions of years before we were even born ?

I don't think dying is that bad. No matter what you believe, no matter if you become "nothingness", lose all sense and thought and become not even a void, or you go to the heavens, it'll be a very relieving experience. I think it could be the highest type of freedom you will ever be able to experience.

Oh, well hell. I'll just slit my wrist right now. See ya.

You CAN put yourself in a state of temporary death with todays medicine then revive yourself(maybe, saw on Discovery about this guy that was like dead for almost an hour and was revived?) so I could try it out if I wanted to but...
Naaah, don't feel like dying today...:p

Everything turns to black, typed in white “Continue? 25 cents” and I realize I don’t have any change…

How is this offensive? This is a public forum where you debate and discuss things. Don't read the posts in this thread if you find it offensive.

I bet it's like falling asleep.
Personally I think you cease to exist and you dont even realise it. The thought of nothingness is depressing though. I also kinda believe in reincarnation. I wanna come back as a butterfly. No one ever suspects the butterfly Muhahahahaha! :O
