So im trying to decide between the WD Raptor X and the 400gig w/ 16mb cache, the raptor is about 200 and the other is about 140...plus about 3 times as big as the raptor lol, would the 10krpm and 16mb cache really bethat noticeable than just regular 7500rpm w/ the 16 cache?

More space > little faster.

The 400gb drive for sure.

I need to get a new hard drive soon as well. I'm already using up most of 180 gigs worth of two hard drives.

There is also a version of that Raptor drive without a window which should cost less. I think they both would be fast enough for you so go with the bigger one. I have a couple WD 500GB drives and they are pretty quick yet quiet. But I also have a raptor 10,000rpm drive (74gb) as my main OS/program drive and it does boot/load faster but only by a little bit.

atm you get most GB per dollar/euro by getting a 200 - 250 gb SATA drive. imho space is more important than a few milli second less access time and everything above 300 gigs is still overpriced. you could go with 2 250 gig drives and have plenty of space.

Actually the price/gb is the best for 250gb and 320gb drives. Both are like $0.33 per gigabyte.

I bought 2 WD 3200KS 320gb drives not too long ago. They're really quick and quiet.
