Why is december the 17th such a great date in the annals of history? Well Return of the king is released in cinema's on that day but more importantly its the 100th anniversiary of powered flight...

I think powered flight happened before the Wright brothers flew. However, it was not manned powered flight.

I cant remember the exact dates or anything, so you would have to look that up to be sure.

Anyway, it is quite cool how far we have come in such a short time.

I don't recall hearing anything like that. I'm pretty sure that the Wright brothers' flight was the first actual demonstration of heavier than air flight. If you have a link or something then please post it. I'd be curious to know.
