I'm looking into getting a keyboard so that I can use it to compose music on my computer, I have done some simple composing in the past and I take music courses in school however I am a complete begginer to composing music on the computer. I'm looking for a keyboard that is good for begginers, and has as many features as can be fitted into a $500(Canadian) price range.

Just the name of a reliable company will do, however if you know of a specific model then I would really appreciate it.

I just hope someone actually reads this...

Sorry, not really any useful info from me, but, anyways,
I think the only keyboards I've played were Yamahas (and I'm not even sure about that) but I didn't really do much with them. One I borrowed from my cousin 10 years ago; the other one I played in orchestra in middle school. So I really have nothing to compare them against, but I guess they were pretty good... Not sure what the price on those is either.
You might just try going to any store that sells musical instruments-- they'd probably have some out so you can test them out before you'd have to actually buy anything, and also look at the functions and stuff, see whatever fits your purposes; plus you'd have the pricetag right in front of you.

I don't think I've ever seen a keyboard that wasn't a Yamaha, they are pretty damn popular. So maybe they would be good people to go with, you could at least have a look on their website so you have a better idea of what you are looking for.

For a basic synth.. I have a Yamaha CS2X , very powerful piece of professional hardware ~ £500-600 sterling
