I've decided it's time for me to buy a sound card. I've been using onboard sound ever since my first computer and it's been fine with me up until lately. More and more games that don't have proper audio settings for me to fiddle with have horribly crackly sound. I've also been wanting to get one so I can actually have sound when I get a VGA cable for my 360.

I've been hearing about lots of problems with Vista and some sound cards (I'll upgrade to Vista eventually) so my question is this:

What cheap but decent sound card will work with Vista?

Note: I am not an audiophile. I don't have speakers - just a headset - so 7.1 crazy surround isn't necessary. I just want something that is Vista compatible, has the audio jacks for a VGA 360 cable, is cheap and doesn't suck as bad as my onboard sound does.

Thanks :D

EDIT: Errr. Looks like I'm an idiot and you can't jack in the audio cables on a 360 VGA cable for any sound card :| Any card with those jacks will use it for output...DERP

Yeah, planning on hitting RadioShack tomorrow. Could I just hook up the VGA Cable to the stereo->mini cable and plug the 3.5mm cable into the Line In port on my board, then be able to hear the sound on my headphones?

yes thats exactly what you would do ^^^. have fun man.
