Hello everyone

i've been searching myself crazy for some "good" elevator tutorials with or without using of props.

The only decent i found was on hl2world, now that didn't help much anyway.

Is there any link or reference to a understandable tutorial for creating a box that goes up and down ? ^^

ps: is the snarkpit offline 4ever ? or is it temp ?

thx everybody for the answers you are about to give ;)

cheerz

why dont you just make the elevator out of brushes then, having them all selected, tie them to entity (ctrl+t). Change them to a func_button, change the lip amount, speed, etc. It's pretty straightforward.

ah , didnt think about it like that before ...

but then again , i actually want to do it the proper way; using func_tracktrain and patch ways ... but just can't find a decent tuto :(

-> so about yours , if you go stand in it , and click anywhere it'll move up ? if that's what you mean ?

thx for the reply ;)

you can do that if you want, or you can open the flags of your elevator and uncheck all the flags and give it a name. then make a new button or a trigger that will function as the button for your elevator. then point it at your elevator.

that worked fine , though when i got in the liftcar , and pushed the button , it went up allright though really shaky ... :/
what can i do to prevent that from happening ?

And every time i start the map for testing (css) it says this :
The Navigation Mesh was built using a different version of this map.
?

thx for the help :)

as far as the shaky bit, there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. its a bug in the source code.

The navigation mesh is for bots.

To build a new one, open the console and enter nav_generate

It takes a while on larger maps so I only do this when I have a playable version and want to test it.

Use the snarkpits tutorial it is really easy to follow. I was going to make an elevator myself but now the site has been down for a while.
