A smaller-scale modification called Decloak: Source has just released version 1a of their client and dedicated server beta files. The premise of Decloak is described on the website as "round based game[play] where the rebel team tries to escape to a certain point in the map before the combine stop them". Sounds generic, until you take into account the entire gameplay gimmick behind the mod - cloaking.[br]

[br]The rebel team has the ability to cloak and uncloak at will; they start with no weapons but their gravity gun and crowbar, which are the only two that can be used while cloaked. The Combine guard the stockpile of Rebel weapons and try to stop them from escaping; their flashlights reveal the cloaked Rebels, who almost must smuggle items out of the prison.

I just spent some time playing this and it's pretty fun despite its simplicity. Worth a download, even if it's not chock full of new media and whatnot, it's a solid release.
 
Yeah, it has nothing very fancy, but for a (what I've heard as) a solo job, it's great, and hella fun.

The only real problem I see right now is the current map being used to showcase the mod doesn't seem to support more than 8 players, otherwise people start getting telefragged at the spawn point.

Even so, watching a single reb whiz by holding a monitor and sending the combine team into a firing frenzy as he scurries away is hilarious.
 
Apparently the spawn telefrag bug will be fixed in the next server patch which I believe is coming very soon.
 
This looks pretty sweet, I might have to check it out sometime.

this will all be fixed in beta 1.1 coming out this weekend hopefully
 
  • Update: a new dll has been released fixing the spawn bug
 
Hawt sechs. Now I wanna see some new game modes. Examples:

*Half the members of ech team are invisible to the other half of both teams, and the round plays out in either Team DM or CTF style.

*All players invisible, all wpns, straight out DM fragfest!! :E
