Last week Brown Bag Films revealed they have been working an animated film using the Source engine. The trailers confirm that the film sets will also be playable. "A new workflow for animations and game development, simultaneously" highlights the process of both mediums being developed at the same time, an exciting prospect. Trailer 1 | Trailer 2

Concept art for characters and an environment in the film also materialised which you can see if you read below. You can read more about the film, director and Brown Bag Studios here.

I remember a while back, there was a quote from Newell, suggesting that George Lucas should make all the CG assets from the Star Wars prequels available to fans, in order for them to construct their own versions of the movies. It was a throw-away comment, but it did make me wonder at the time.

It seems like this would be a good excuse to release the fabled Source video editing tools to the public, as an experiment in Moddable Movies.

That looked pretty interesting. Also was that dynamic water I saw in one scene near the end rather than the normal shitty flat surfaces of every other Valve game?

I like the artstyle but it looks pretty rough. I can only assume that's not indicative of final quality.
