defrag your hl2 drive

I analyzed it, and my hl2.gsc file had 2,112 fragments! haven't finished defragging yet, but this should help a good bit reducing load times.

this may be a common problem due to the way it was downloaded over many weeks in pieces. I suggest you check yours, especially if you installed it on a drive/partition with little free space like I did.

Wraith diskeeper is exellent

I did the same thing and it helped ALOT also loading times where speeded up alot.

I defragmented my whole harddisk, but I left Steam running on accident and none of the GCF's were defragmented (probably couldn't acces them because they were 'busy ')

the default defrag included with windows is good.
