delete old drivers?

just dled the new drivers for my ati radeon 9800 and I was wondering if I delete the old set of drivers that it came with

well wth, I went to install the drivers and it came up as an error that says

INF error
Video driver not found

Very simple. Go to www.ati.com d/l cat. 3.7s, install, reboot.
