LOS ANGELES — Hollywood actor Dennis Hopper, best known for directing and starring in the 1969 cult classic "Easy Rider," died on Saturday at his home in Venice, California, from complications of prostate cancer, a friend told Reuters. Hopper was 74.

He died of the exact same cancer my last grandpa died of when I was like 8. ;(

Guy was a really great actor, producer, director of over 100 films and a scary bomber in the 1994 movie "Speed":

He was also the bad-ass villian in Waterworld:

Pretty amazing career. That doesn't even include appearances on television series like Crash.
On March 18, 2010, it was announced that Hopper would be honored with the 2,403rd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, in front of the iconic Grauman's Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard.[39] Surrounded by friends including Jack Nicholson, Viggo Mortensen, David Lynch, Michael Madsen, family, and fans, he attended its addition to the sidewalk on March 26, 2010.
Finally, someone honored before they died.

RIP. He was a great actor. I wanted him to be Dr. Breen in a Half-Life movie.

Oh man.
That ****ing sucks, I loved him.

He was the porno director in GTA: Vice City too.

Sad news. :(
Too many famous/well-known people are dying this month.

That's a cool looking photo.

I didn't notice that it was ironic until I saw the file name.

Damn, no chance of a HL2 movie now then, with Dennis Hopper as Dr Breen and Gary Coleman as Eli Vance.

Despite a prolific career in some movie classic, I think I'll remember him best for his spoken word bit for the Gorillaz album track 'Fire Coming Out of a Monkey's Head'. Even the daftest projects he took never really undermined his credibility (yup, not even Mario), and he added value to just about everything I've seen him in.

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! painful memories of space truckers.

anyway RIP Dennis the true menace.

Really loved him as an actor! its a shame, like mentioned, he would have made an excellent Breen. also I don't think there are more % of celebrities dying, there are just more we know because they've been in show biz longer. In 100 years there will be a lot more celebrities dying at a faster rate because there are a lot more famous people

I'm so glad my parents never took me to see Mario Bros. what the **** are those guys with the small heads?? i heard they really ****ed up Mario but WTF!

THOSE don't look like KOOPAS!! I'd be pissed if I saw that as a kid. It also amazes me to this day I still haven't seen it

i thought it was an awesome movie when i saw it. its a shitty rendition of Super Mario bros for sure, but it's really entertaining

gotta agree, its a good kids film, but when you get older, it gets bad.

I think I may have seen it and I'm not exactly sure. I was only 5 or 6 but all I remembered even at that age was the characters didn't look like Mario characters and I remember asking my mom "is this the Mario Bros movie?" several times. I mean even at that age, I knew the movie was stupid.

I picture him in the Mario Bros movie as well even though I've seen a good amount of his work. I liked the movie when I saw it for some reason, maybe Hopper made it so.

Actually, good sir, those are goombas.

I think the only enemy that didn't get completely warped for the purpose of the movie was the Bob-ombs. Yeah, those were still ****ing cool.
