Im looking for some depressing music, preferably intrumentals or orchestras or something of the like. If you can give me some good artists/bands/whatever Ill be greatly appreciative.

If you want to know why I want these, its because it helps me write, and I like to write so... yea ... thanks :D

"Gloomy Sunday" causes people who listen to kill themselves... have fun :)

Im looking for music that is purposly depressing :P

Listen to anything by a band called Cursive, some of their stuff feels sort of uppy like dance type but the lyrics usually make you want to /quit life.
Heres an example: Cursive - The Great Decay

lol.

....helps you write my ass, dont jump. There are things in this world that are worth living for....

From the Planets suite by Gustav Holtz the pieces Venus and Neptune. Some parts of Venus are somewhat upbeat but you can generally listen to it as being depressing.

Even though its not really what you are looking for you have to listen to Mars also from the Planets suite, it is the most evil sounding orchestral music I have ever heard.

Fred Jones Part 2 by Ben Folds is pretty damn depressing, but its not just instruments. has words. singing and piano, mainly.

E.S. Posthmus has great instrumentals, depressing stuff, mellow stuff, fast stuff, I kept only the fast and exciting stuff on my playlist because I'm not generally a fan of instrumentals unless they are such :)
great stuff though

and thats about all I can tell you, the rest of my playlist isn't instrumental or anything, so yeah.

The song Impossible by Figurine depresses me, but I'm weird.

Anything by Nelly depresses me about the state of the English language.

No seriously... when I write stuff, it really helps me. Like the site misanthropia.net had some AWESOME music but the guy pulled them off of the site. Anyhow yea.

whee, naruto.

I have a moral thing against listening to anime soundtracks though ;)

if you don't mind singing, a lot of stuff by ben folds is reall ynice 'n' sad, fred jones pt 2 being the saddest again :P
just don't get mixed in with the upbeat stuff ;)

oh, and some radiohead stuff definitely has a ":(" type of tone and melody to it. Street Spirit definitely, Exit Music(For a Film) as well.

btw, i just remembered...sort of....

There's this one song from the movie 'Donnie Darko'..... it's a pretty suicidal/depressing song...

wow, just noticed I had that song :P it was right above "let him dangle" which I've been listening to nonstop almost, and noticed it as I went to double click let him dangle again ;)

Ive always liked the Pixies to make me that little bit extra depressed.

Where Is My Mind?

Vaughan Williams's 'Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis'

Speaking of this, if anyone has (or could get) the mp3 file of it, I really, really, really want it...

i was just wondering what that tune would be like.....cos tracks with long names usually turn out to be something unique....

sounds narrow minded yes, but usually true you will find

Needle in the Hay, by Elliot Smith is pretty depressing
