I plan on playing Descent with three of my buddies this Saturday, and was wondering if anybody here has experience with this game? I've had it for almost a year now, I even have one of the expansions, but I've only played it 4 times and do not have a full grasp on the rules, so it will be a learning experience for the 4 of us. We might also tackle Mag Blast, a very simple space card game, and Attack!, which is really just a simplified game of Risk. Also what are some recommended snacks for tabletop gaming that won't cause a large mess?

I was disappointed when this thread wasn't about....

^ Oh yeah. ****ing loved Descent.

On topic: Box looks cool. It's a shame that most of my friends live a hundred and forty klicks away from me, so we can't do anything like that.

Reminds me of Hero Quest, ahh good times :)

It is A LOT like hero quest, and my uncle always talks of the glory days he and his friends had with hero quest, and this is the closest alternative I could find nowadays :|

Supremely disappointed by this thread. Biggest letdown of the month probably. I thought there was going to be a new Descent game.

Also thought this was going to be about a new Descent game :( **** I don't need this shit right now

Hero Quest was good but I liked Space Crusade, a Warhammer 40k license made by the same group who made HeroQuest, they were very similar in gameplay and so forth :)

Hell yeah. I can't count how many hours I've spent running around and shooting other ****ers in that game.

Running? I suppose you are drunk and mean flying/hovering!:frown:

But yes, the Descent games rule, I'd love to see Volition make a new Descent.

No, my ship had legs. I was a badass.

My ship had an Elephant's trunk. I was useless.

Actually, Interplay was just publisher of the older Descent games(including the original), Parallax Software Corp. developed them, Parallax Software Corp later split into two seperate companies, neither of which was a part of Interplay.

For those that don't know, Red Faction 1 was originally developed as a Descent game.

AFAIK Interplay never actually developed a good Descent game themselves.

Hence why I'd rather the original devs(or what remains of'em) got a chance to do a new Descent.

Ah, got it. I'd settle for any game that had 6dof at this point.

As in, the ability to move freely as well as rotate on the x, y, and z axes.

Ah, to me that sounds like "SPACE FLYING".

Eh.

If anyone cares today's game of Descent went quite well and I highly recommend it to you all.
