Just wanted to take a formal tally. Describe your political alignment, as best as you can.

No, I didn't search. Poll up soon.

I grew up in a republican household, but I think for myself. I've got views from both sides of the extremes (I think illegal drugs should be legalized, but I'm against gun control - drug & gun control seem pointless to me).

ultra-left, you could call me a libertarian socialist, I'm fully in the bottom left corner on political compass tests.

Mixed. I believe that guns should be only for the military and the police.But i fully support all other rights including same-sex marriages , abortions etc.

I think the government only cares about corporations, any kind of public service is a front, they do experiments on us, they are making us braindead and lazy with TV and fast food, and I look forward to the zombie apocalypse so I can have a little freedom.

My definition of zombie becomes looser everytime I see hannah montana on the TV.

European right-leaning moderate, very secular, pro-nuke green.

shoot, I should have put left leaning Moderate because thats what i am. but Moderate is pretty close.

I don't even know left and right-winging shit. You're all a bunch of gnarly shamblers and will taste my machete.

I hate fagits, i heart guns, and i wnt 2 nuke ever1 cept da usa cuz we rul!!!!!!!!

ps f u all

i dunno, id like to think im just rational...but left leaning moderate sounds nice

I don't like labeling myself. What Solaris and Tyguy say: whatever works that maximizes human progress and happiness. But if there's a box that fits me best, it'd probably be 'liberal'. Neither left nor right though.

'Whatever works' is fine, but I'm of the opinion that what works is interested green liberal left democratic alter-globalism with streaks of anarchism.

'Liberal' is a problematic label because -quite apart from its connotations of insipid American identity politics blind to the social dimensions of class and economy that inform cultural division - it gestures too strongly at the very narrow definition of 'freedom' that characterises the 'liberal' orthodoxy of the post-cold-war years, from Thatcher through Fukuyama, which has generally had negative effects on human liberty.

woo anarchism *swings bloody knife*

*provocatively exposes the coercive nature of Lefty*

I believe in get out of here stalker. Give everyone guns, those with the best suits win.

I believe that everyone should be free to do as they please, so long as they do not directly bring measurable harm to anyone else. I also believe that the role of government should be limited to national defence, healthcare, pre-university education, enforcement of the few laws that should exist, a very limited benefit system and nothing else except for things like setting standards of measurement.

Government should be small, unobtrusive, and its existence largely irrelevant to the lives of the vast majority of people.

I've taken like two or three tests that have all told me I'm perfectly moderate. So yeah.

I'm socially and economically liberal. When it comes to personal economics revolving around my family and myself though, I am entirely conservative.

Liberal is left wing. They want the gov't to have a say in most everything.

I'm extremely right wing conservative, but most of the people in this forum already know that. I believe the gov't should only exist to serve as a mediator in affairs between the states, like a smaller scale UN, except they actually get something done. I also think they should serve as a single commander for the state's armed forces, should they be asked for their help by the world community...

Liberal != authoritarian.

Conservative != libertarian.

Le sigh. I'm not providing my own argument. I'm telling you you're wrong by definition.

Explain personal freedom when the gov't taxes you more to pay for freebies to people that wont work...ala socialized medicine, welfare, etc. The sort of things that have bankrupted California and New York...

People that are on welfare or food stamps aren't refusing to work - they may not have a choice in the matter. For example: What about the hundreds of folks who get laid off from their jobs and have a really hard time finding a new job because of a disability for example? Businesses don't exactly have a lot of respect for the disabled, and the disabled aren't lazy about working. It's not their choice to be discriminated against.
I'd rather be generous and help those who need it instead of spending my money on some worthless electronic gadget.

What about the thousands of people who need welfare and food stamps to cover their Escalades and 52" TVs in their government-subsidized Section 8 housing?

I'm just trying not to sound redundant. I'm also not limiting myself. I will not bind myself to any preconcieved notion of what melee weapon is appropriate for the elimination of the undead hordes, I will simply use what is effective and what is available.
