Hey all, Desert Eagle here, 2000 tris

I could take harsh crits- so throw your best at me :)

100 million times better than anything I could ever do

2000? That's a lot looking at that render. Where'd all the tris go? Nice start, but I think you need to optimize quite a bit.

Needs a lot more detail. That could have been done for less then 1000, it could be done with all of the extra detail and still not go that much over 2000.

Thanks for the advice- I'll definatly do some optimization- why more details? There are a lot of things a texture can help you with- bump maps work wonders :)

That really makes me angry that all of you are modeling for some engine that isn't source because I know for a fact that source can handle a hell of a lot more polygons. Bumpmap it sure... but what about the people who have it disabled because of a DX7 card? 600 polygons aren't going to do any harm.

The model looks good, need to work on the renders thogh.

errm, they're saying what i was going to say, that for a model with 2000 polygons, theres not enough detail. i think you got confused.

anways nice model, but yeah, needs more detail for that polycount :smoking:

no, i know what he was saying. Bump maps are good, but dont go nuts, I would optimize it and add in some detail.

Yup ;) I'll get to optimizing it, as soon as I get some mapping done for my mod :)

Just remember the difference about Texture Detail and Physical Detail. Like safety switches and stuff like that just doesnt look good when its textured. Texture detail should be for small things that does stand to much out of the model. Bump map only does this much for fooling the eye. And I cant help it but it looks like your model is a complete mesh and that the slide isnt a part of its own. Maybe its just the render that throws me off.

Hmmmm not bad for a beginner it is quite low detail but i do not know how you managed to get that to 2000 polys.......i could prob make a deagle model to the same level of detail with 500, if theres one thing i am good at, it is making budget models looks really nice.

A way to brag... Beginner? Just because I'm new to the forums- you dub me a beginner? :p I was trying out a new way to model guns- and obviously, it's not optimized yet... ;)
