Ive used windowblinds in the past,. I do like that program,. but after checking out this austin prog today, I definitly think its a step beyond. It doesnt just skin windows,. it has some rather sweet GUI mods.. animated buttons serving various functions on the desktop, a rather sweet taskbar, menu transparencys, and left click on the desktop for a start menu, to name a few.

Some features could be a lot more user friendly, but I'm sold.

does aston run at the same speed as regular winxp? i just am about performance here...

The windows theme thing i used completely raped my ram.
It cant be as bad as having steam open though; why does that program use so much dang ram? Its just a browser...
My pf usage almost doubles when i open it; before ever running a game.

so when you use aston it eats up ram? i have 1gb of nice corsair ram, but i dont know if i want to use this because of that...

merc, try Litestep.

I use it. Love it. Easy on the ram. And I only have 128.

Screenshot of my Litestep shell:

EDIT - I think their main page is down because they're moving from .NET to .COM
Try this in the mean time. Or just search google for "litestep."

Asont uses less RAM then explorer does. Alot less.

Uh, I wouldn't go with litestep. Theres a thread in their forums called "litestep might not be for you if.."

Well, half of the reasons it might not be for you is that you will end up writing/modding scripts in a text editor every time something goes wrong. And from what people who've tried it have told me, it goes wrong alot. I hanv't had any problems with Aston at all.

Wow, hey, I just saw that explorer isn't running unless you're browsing your file system,..

Ashton is using about 10 megs of memory now,. damn. This prog kicks ass!
