1024 x 768, while at school Im stuck with 800 x 600 and a crappy background, which Im trying to get into and change.

yeah simmonimis i hav that crap aswell! im gunan complain and say it has buggered up my eyes cos it is is a waste of space and i always run out of space ona screen:P

1600x1200 - it's the only way to fly.

Holy hell, i just put 1280 x 1024, everythings fricking tiny! How do you guys cope?? Also, anyone know why i get a stupid black border thing if I put my refresh rate higher than 60hz? Ive heard its better for your eyes at 75hz.

EDIT:Nevermind, sorted it with my monitor buttons heh. I forget theyre there most the time.

60 hz can cause eyestrain the only reason my screen is at 60 Hz is cos my monitor was borrowed froma s kip and it cant hit nething higher than 1024 768 at 75 and that is too big and ii cant fit everything in place!

although when im leaning back on mirc i can sumtimes not see te writing cos it is teeny!

1152x864
my monitor can't handle more at a decent refresh rate (85Hz). :frown:

besides it's 4:3 (while 1280x1024 is 5:4), so more like a natural screen's ratio. very useful if you're working with stuff like corel draw or autocad.

1280x960 on this 19" CRT gaming machine (wheres the option in the poll?)
1280x1024 on my 17" TFT server machine

1152x864 - My monitor can do 80Hz on this resolution. I tried 1280x1024 for a bit, it looks nicer but theres a nasty flickering in the top right hand corner as the refresh rate can only go up to 60Hz. Gives me a headache :(

1280x960

I wonder why that one isn't in the poll? Seems common to me.

1650x1050 on my Dell 20.1" 2005 FPW Widescreen LCD :D :D

but 1280x1024 on my CRT.

1280x960 for two reasons. 1) it's 4:3, and 2) 1280x1024 only goes up to 60Hz.

I wonder why so many people use 1280x1024. It isn't a 4:3 resolution, so unless you have a widescreen monitor, it's gonna give a distorted image. 1280x960 is a much more logical option.

I use 1024x768.

I use 1280x1024 on my other monitor, and it looks fine. Maybe it's something to do with the size of the monitor. It's not a widescreen. 1280x1024 is it's native.

1600 x 1200...but I can only have the Hz below 70.

Hurts my eyes after a while.

1280x1024 is native for TFTs (17" - 19") but CRTs should always be 4:3 (1024x768 / 1152x864 / 1280x960 / 1600x1200)

I think the fact most people have TFTs now is why 1280x1024 is so popular.

I run 1024x768 ONLY because thats what I play HL2/CSS in, and if I increase the res in windows, the refresh rate goes down.

Anybody know how I might get around this so I can run 1600x1200 but still get a refresh rate of 200hz when running HL2 at 1024?

1280x800 Widescreen all the way baby. Get rida' those black bars...
