If u never played Destruction Derby 1 or 2 on the PSone then its basiclly a game where you use your car as a weapon to totally destory your enemy.
You can play it 2 ways. 1 racing style where your objective is to actually win the race, at the same time take out as many cars as you can. Also a pit style setting where u are in some sort of arena (they are all different styles) and you ram and bash anyone who gets in your way until you become champion.
I was thinking that maybe (if anyone hasn't thought of it already) make a mod inspired by this game. The only way I can really see it going with the hl2 engine is the physics system. It would work perfect on the game. If the modellers was able to create vehicle models from the body down. I mean like everything. From brake pads to metal frames. Building them in a 3d graphics (3dsmax/xsi.... what ever program u use) program exactly how they would be put together in real life. Then using the hl2 engine to deform and minipulate the hole car in a very realistic way.
I totally think having racing games on the hl2 engine is a bit stupid mainly because obviasly hl2 is a first person shooter engine and why not just make your life so much more easyer and just use the toca driver engine. But the strong backing of the hl2 engine is the physics. The mod will not have like totally realistic handling like cmr4 and gt. It will be pritty basic and not really a stong pulling point to the mod.
I also had another idea to impliment into the game. If you had a sort of large scale database. A bit like the planetside one. Where you login before you join a server and start playing. So all the winning you do you collect money. This money will be used to buy new parts for your car, you can also trade with other friends online. Rather than just saying, ow ye u now have medium susmension when u purchase it. I think it would be great for your model to actually change no matter what. So you can even change the size of your break pads and they would actually change. I mean this would intail a lot and I mean a lot of work. Getting everything correct and having a good model series of cars to have multiple models for. Like the bmw series. They could all use the same set of break pads and wheels.
It would basiclly be grand turismo mixed with destruction derby. Ow and also lets just throw it online to add more fun. Its just an idea I had dunno if i will even bother taking it anywhere. But you never know people might actually like it and want to do something. Btw I am a vehicle modeller. Hense my idea. Also a map for CO:IN. So its not like I have just come up with an idea and expecting everyone else to make it for me, I am not that stupid. I am stupid though
