Deus Ex 2 runs worse that FarCry????

Hi, I played DX 2 on my old computer and it ran like crap, but since the computer was old I didn't mind. Now that I upgraded and can run FarCry on max everything (except AA), I installed DX2 it and it runs like crap even when I put it on 1024 and no AA.

Now is it simply one of these games that are optimized badly or are there some handy tweaks to bumb the gameplay by about 10 fps?

ive only played the demo of deus ex ,but yes it ran really REALLY crappy.

Nope, got the latest patches went even on the forum, but the main message it that it looks substandard it runs substandard, oh well.

For me, high resolution (above 1024), everything very high, buttery smooth framerate. I turn on AA as well, so it chugs in a few places, but it's worth it

Doom 3 runs better on 800x600 than Deus Ex 2 does on 800x600 for me... I'm pretty sure it's the dynamic lighting system that causes the FPS drop, since when i'm in areas that are pretty dark the movement is insanely smooth.

90-95% of it's glory, you'll have to trade between high resolutions or AA (a X800 can do both), but at the level of detail you'll be playing you'll not be able to notice any differences, you'll be too rapt at the amazing details and smooth framerate.

Deus Ex 2 runs VERY poorly. Far Cry and Doom 3 both run better on my computer, which is kinda sad. DE2 is still a great game though, fortunately you don't need a smooth framerate to play it well since it's not very combat oriented.

in my warez version, i had to go into options in everny new area, and go into video, and then exit, game ran fine after that

It's a heavily unoptimised game. It was rushed so as to get it out in the US by Christmas unfortunately. It was the same case with the first game, which ran poorly compared to other more good-looking games.

deus ex1 had worse graphics than the original hl, but it ran soo badly

same story for deus ex2, it has much worse graphics than half life2 but will require much more resources, ion storm sucks in the optimisation department

Thief 3 was kinda OK, at least there I could push 1600x1200 and still have nice framerates (ie: no noticable chuginess).

I need a mouse, I can't even beat Halo on easy on the X-Box, but legendary on the PC is a piece of cake.

I see, Deus Ex 2 took a while for me to get used too, finally did get the hang of it though. Well, good luck findin a solution.
