Are there any ways of making Dial-up Faster? I'm downloading the 2.0 update for my PSP and it's 63MB and it says it'll take 6 hours :( ...

I know theres a way, because whenever you start certain downloads it starts downloading at like 100kb per second, and it acually does download 100kb at that second, but if its a big file then it'll go down until it reaches like 3kb a second..

I read about some guys making 56k faster, who knows how they did it. Sorry pal.

Yes there is. Pick up your phone and call your local broadband provider.

There are many easy ways to make diali-up much faster

I can't get broadband, I live in a rural area, only dial-up out here.

there are many ways to make my dial-up faster? such as?

There's no way to make downloads go faster on dial up.

I tried that and they still haven't done it right. Telstra are useless.

Even in Perth?

I know they're bad in most rural areas, but Perth as well?

Rub the phoneline against your crotch.

Are you using firefox to download? If you are then it doesn't actually download at that speed, it just creates the space on the hard drive ready for that file. Besides, its impossible to get 56k to download at 100KB/sec.

Yes, there useless.
Someone tell me why my quoting never comes out right.

The only advice that I have for you is to move, preferably the Republic of Korea, the most wired place in the world.

*happily strokes VDSL and LPFO modems*

theSteven, the secret to quoting is you have to do all the extra crap yourself.

Click the quote button on the lower right area of the post you're quoting.

Make your pipe fatter by feeding it cream cakes and pies

There is osftware than increases the speed between links and browsing, but it doesn't increase you download rate, sorry

Can't you get one of those download speed thingys? It connects more then once to the same server to make downloads faster.

No matter how many connections you have to the server, you can't get any more than around 4-5 maybe 6KB/sec if you're lucky. That's all the line can handle.

Overclock your modem!
LMAO:laugh:

There's one program called OnSpeed that lowers picture quality to increase page loading, but it doesn't increase downloads unfortunately. I don't think it's possible. You can download 20 odd tools. They'll speed it up slighty but you can never pass the bandwidth restrictions.

Have your online friends download things for you and burn it to CD.
By the time it gets to you through the mail you should have saved countless hours staring at a progress bar that never moves.

Consider yourself lucky. I used to have a 28.8k modem before I got broadband.
