Did Anyone Find A Fix To This?

Well, at first I'd start the game up, it'd show the valve intro, the screen would go black, a load screen would appear, 2 error beeps would sound and the game would freeze.

I thought I had fixed this by creating an HL2 icon on my desktop and adding "-console" to the target--this let me play the game up until the first loading point just after Barney bails you out of the train station.

Now I'm getting this same error message...Does anyone have a fix yet?

put it this way... i dont even get to the loading screen b4 i get that

i get the black bock and blurry screen that says Loading...

and freezes and when i finaly get th game to try and close that pops up

This is seriously rediculous how Valve hasn't let us know whats going on.

They don't know what's going on. It appears to be a corrupt file. They're suggesting you redownload the models .gcf cache file.

Run Half Life 2 with this shortcut:
-w 1152 -h 864 -refresh 75

Replace the numbers with your resolution and your refreshrate.

That error occurs if you force your refresh rate. It happened to me and that's how I fixed it.
