Only 60% of PS3 owners do not know there console plays Blue-Ray and even DVD's. Did you also know that 70% of all next gen (hdmi and component) console owners do not know that they output in high definition. Sorry, I just found that statistics halarious. Was on Kotaku a week ago or so and just remember it :p

More along the lines of 70% of people don't own a HDTV in order to play in HD I'm guessing.

You'd be surprised at the number of people who have an HDTV, yet their Xbox 360 is still set to output at standard-def.

How do you pay over $600 for a PS3 and not know about the built-in DVD and Blu-Ray player? Why else would the thing be so expensive?

not everyone one is knowledgeable of the high definition input. most ppl are use to using composite and i can see a drastic difference in consoles in 480p on a high def tv. dvds and tv you cant really tell.

People are very stupid.

PS: HD is overrated for most purposes.

LMFAO! You obviously are one of those people who never set it up properly :p Sorry to be so blunt. But its simply uncomprehendable the different between a standard TV and Full HD 1080p

Most people simply think if they plug there component cables into there HDTV then its done and will do it automatically. You need to setup the settings on your console (just like changing the resolution on a PC) and you also need to polish the settings towards gaming on your HDTV itself.

Oh just a side note for anyone else who has a HDTV, if you havn't tuned your settings then I strongly suggest you do as its very rare a HDTV will be setup properly when you first get it. Mainly because it has to deal with so many differences. I have different settings for standard TV, DVDs, 360, Wii and PC (using it as a monitor).

I'm not smart when it comes to TVs so I just got my settings of the internet from HDTVTest.co.uk.

Agreed. I know my mum buys a tv and keeps it for about 3/4 years. I'd imagine it's the same for most familys, especially in the UK.

Mine is set on HD... But seriously, how can you not realize that your game system doesn't have a DVD player? I use my 360 as a DVD player all the time. And I download South Park episodes off Live. I don't know about the Wii though.

I hear Microsoft is planning to respond to this new data by including a video in future Xbox360's (which would play during the system startup), that tells users of all the features and capabilities of the system.

What's the buzz about HD? We, PC gamers, have been playing in 1080p before your consoles could even handle enhanced definition.

Because consoles can render games at these resolutions now. It's really not a difficult concept to grasp.
