Looks interesting, might kill a bit of time every now and then :)

Entered.

Looks like it could be quite enjoyable if done correctly.

Went to enter the competition, but my browser(s) seem to be playing up and I'm unable to acquire the competition e-mail address. Could someone please provide it here?

Any game with zombies in it is bound to be fun. The detailed survival aspect of Die2Nite makes it sound even more enjoyable.

Can you give us some impressions Evo?

Can you make your own towns? HL2.net town? :D

Link to my impressions edited into the first post.

Sadly you can't make your own town (don't know if they are planning to change this or not), you get assigned to a random town which goes 'live' when there are 40 residents.

Thanks.

Does sound interesting, but my only worry is that other people can ruin it for the whole town. But I guess that adds to the craziness of the game.

It's quite fun, but I managed to trap myself outside of the town (0 AP) with a head injury. I won't last the night.

What happens if you die? Do you just start a new character in a new town? I assume this happens too if a town falls, everybody just starts in new ones.

Can you find other town in the outdoors and join them instead?

This is what I like the sound of in this game. You get put with random survivors, much like you would if a zombie outbreak happened.

If you die you just get to start with a new random town, you only get put into one when you select to do it though, you aren't automatically sent to a new town which is good!

Nope you can't find other towns when you wander outdoors.

Thanks for the key, Evo. :)

Went outside my town and got injured by some zombies already! Hopefully someone will donate some bandages to me :D

I like this!

In my town we all got this random drug out of the blue, gave us all 30AP :D Meant we could finish up some defence so we can survive tonights onslaught, construct a Warehouse and start getting materials made ready to build a water pump, our water supplies are starting to run quite low, the pump will help us with our water resources. Plans are in place for building a garden so we can grow our own food :D

If you can't manage to log in regularly will you let your town town a lot? Is there anywhere else to get keys?

If you only log in once a day or maybe once every other day you should be fine as long as your town isn't struggling majorly :)

Pretty sure our town will die tonight, people have been using planks for their own houses rather than a workshop or anything and some guy keeps taking all of the defensive stuff and sticking it in his house, hopefully he puts it back in the town bank once the zombies come!

Still, I'm going to die either way since bandages are so rare, wish I'd die faster so I could start again knowing not to make some stupid mistakes I made since I didn't understand the game fully.

I might try this out but I'm more excited for a 3D open-ended zombie MMO that's currently in alpha development, since I'm not a huge fan of this whole browser AP-based system.

Anyway, if someone gets their hands on an excess invitation key, I'd be delighted to get it so I can try it out, being a huge zombie-fan and all.

Well we survived. Some guy said he was closing the gate 5 mins before the attack happened... but he never did...

21 zombies came in, 10 of us died. I survived sadly (since I'm infected I just wanted to die and start over in a new town) and the rest of the players have been pretty quiet. Now I'm stuck outside of town surrounded by 7 zombies. Hopefully someone comes to save me as I have no weapons to fight them off. Found 2 scrap Iron though which the town needs.

I pretty sure you can get away with logging in once a day. Just make sure to check the map before you leave to make sure you don't get trapped outside, especially if it's late and it's probably likely not many people have any AP left.

The beta for this is ending next week I think and then it's opening to the public. :)

Had fun with this, my new town is doing really well! :D

Anyway, I have 3 keys for you guys, I've PM'd Garg one since he's asked for one, the other two I'll post here. First come first served :)

***BOTH CODES HAVE BEEN USED NOW***

Anyone else been playing this? Shame you can't make your own towns. A hero can get a group of 5 friends together though so they can all be in the same town. :)

Thanks for the code Ren, will be registering later today!

No problem. :)

Little tip for anyone new, don't try and escape zombies, call for help instead! And read the forums, unless you want to get banished from town ;)

I used this one. Thanks a lot Ren! BTW I didn't know what your username was in the game and apparently it's no Ren182 so you don't get credit for sponsoring me. Sorry :(

Edit: What job should I pick? If I pick resident can I change/upgrade later when I figure out what I want?

It's fine :) I don't think it actually counts towards anything :)

Both the codes have been used now, enjoy Riom and whoever else got it :D

Gotten in a game now, we have an experienced player who's already assumed the "leader" role(In the sense that he tries to help with suggestions for what the players should do, prioritize, build etc.)

Really enjoying it.

Someone made a thread in my game telling newbies some tips, including building a workshop before watchtowers and other things. Which someone ignored and built it anyway. So far I have scavenged, saved someone from 4 zombies, upgraded my house to the tent, donated stuff to a bank and made a thread reporting everyone who had built hovels or taken stuff from the bank :dork:

Can someone explain hero mode to me?

Edit: Saw this on the website:
The beta test phase is nearly complete... I'd like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your help, support and bug reports. Dayan thanks you from his bottom too.

When the game officially opens to the public (in around a week), everything on Die2Nite as we know it will be reset (Soul points, distinctions etc...). Unfortunately that's the downside of being here from the very beginning...

However, as a token of our appreciation, all active* players will be handsomely rewarded...

*The Die2Nite team will decide what constitutes an "active player"! This decision will be final and not up for discussion!

I am really annoyed at the few selfish assholes in our town who use planks donated to the bank by other users to upgrade their own homes, rather than let them go to the good of the entire town.

We're already about to banish two users for both wasting planks, as well as stealing from other users.

****s.

Haha, sounds like you two are discovering some of the annoyances of a zombie apocalypse! Selfish assholes! :D

My town is currently the highest ranked town in day 3. :) So we're doing pretty well. Shame it'll all go away when the beta ends and I'll have to start over again with random people!

Rim, hero mode, at the moment, is awarded to the last survivor of a town that's lasted at least 5 days. If everyone dies one night then its awarded randomly to one of the last survivors. As a hero you can be better at scavaging, movement or defence. I think in the final version you can pay to become a hero for a while or something.

Things I've learned: The mobile version of the game works on my phone. You can do very little with the mobile version other than check status and post on the forums. No zombies got in during the attack. 5 people were dumb enough to get locked out and got killed. We still have no workshop and two people have been banished.

So does the zombie attack start at exactly 00:00? Just making sure I'd be safe coming back to the town at about 23:00.

I think it starts at 23:00 in-game time? Not sure.

We always close the gates at 22:45 in-game time.

Wait, what's this game all about? How'd I miss this?

EDIT: Oh... it's a web game? Phooey. Web games are dangerous for me.

Zombies come and 23:00 (server time) and you can't do anything for 20 mins.

Raz, it's kinda addictive >_< Especially when you get put in a town with a good group.

It's out of beta! Anyone who couldn't join sign up now. You can also now buy hero status.

The first town I've joined since the beta closed has managed to make it six days! We all thought we were going to die last night but we got defences up (and built a bunch of hovels) and only eight zombies got in but no one was killed (but 7 people were terrorized).

The estimated attack for tonight is between 260 and 350 and our defences are only 195 so we have a lot of work to do if we want to survive. If the town survives tonight I expect organisation to fall apart tomorrow and it's go to every man for himself (if it doesn't today that is).

Day 6 here also with an estimated attack of 115-255 and our defence is at 228.

There's about 20 of us left but out water is VERY low. So I think some water boosting buildings need to get built today. We should get the defence up easily and the amount of zombies will go down as the estimation gets more accurate. We might not even need to upgrade our defences too much today.

We've had a lot of inactive and stupid players though, which kind of sucks since we've got some good players.
