Difference between socket 754 and 939 for AMD 3700+

No dual channel RAM I think is another difference. Go for 939 no questions about it.

Yeh the memory controller doesn't use dual channel ram and also its an aging socket type. I agree with dumb dude, go with skt939. More future proof as its teh socket type for the dual core beasts.

I bought a cheapo socket 754 mobo that you can upgrade to a socket 939 one last week :/ along with a sempron 64 2800+, and some unknown 512mb ddr400... for only 186 euro's :D

Socket 754 3700 is older, it's 130nm, and runs a higher vcore but it is clocked higher at 2.4ghz
Socket 939 3700 is newer and 90nm, runs lower vcore and it's clocked at 2.2ghz but it overclocks very well and you will have the advantage of being able to upgrade since socket 939 has a future unlike 754. And like the above said 939 is Dual Channel

One of the main differences is the amount of L2 cache.
The s754 has only 128kb while the athlon 64 has 512kb L2 cache.
The s754 also is a bit cooler i think.
