When you log in as the administrator, the heading you see is GLaDOS v1.07a... but when you log in as any other user (just by typing a random username and using the "portal" password), it shows GLaDOS v1.09.

I'm not sure what significance this could have, if any, but it's something I noticed that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere before... so lets hear peoples thoughts about this!

I know, that's because Johnson's time is flowing backwards...

Which makes me wonder which employees he remembers?

The version numbers sort of refer to the version of the flash file on the website. When it originally went up I think it was 1.06. I think the teir3 login may have been added to the website after the release of portal. The flash file was decompiled and examined for secrets several months before the release and the extra login wasn't present at that point. The 1.09 could be a newer version of the file, but its odd that the version numbers don't match.

This either means something or it means nothing - and I'm not going to be able to sleep well until I know for sure that it means nothing lol. Freakin' Valve is ruining my life, and I love them for it.

The way I see it, if they updated the admin login when Portal came out, they either A) updated both logins simultaneously to the same version and then updated the regular login from 1.07a to 1.09 at a later point, or B) only updated the admin when Portal came out then updated the regular straight to 1.09.

Why the different versions? Why update one after the other? What's on the regular login that is NOT on the admin login that would need to be updated?

Not expecting to dig up a whole lot here... but I will leave no stone unturned.

Perhaps all it signifies that the user cjohnson was set up earlier than all the other users.
