I'm throwing in the towel with my Sony DSC-W1 and upgrading. I'm still a point-and-shoot kinda guy, but I want my pictures to be even sharper and even higher image quality. I'm looking at the sd550 and the a620, both from canon. money isn't an option. what do u guys recommend?

Get that new camra by fuji they are the HD camras I'll try and find a web site for you to find them at in the meen time

I have an a95 fron cannon and love it. Very sharp pictures and very easy to use.

i appriciate that link but that convo is really old, and doesnt even talk about the two cameras im talking about. the canon sd550 or the canon a620. i cant decide which one is better. and if theres an even better camera in their field (point and shoot camera) what u think it is and why.

SD550 is nice but won't match the quality of indoor pics that the W1 does do to that it's a smaller pocket camera. The bigger cameras always do better with lower lighting.

A620 is awesome. Lot of people like the flipout screen. Easier to get good pictures without messing with settings IMO. Canon's generally are. Sony W1 can take awesome pictures but I've only seen good outdoor pics taken from it. Indoor shots tend to blur or be a little dark from looking at my friends pics.

Just remember that pretty much any compact camera's flash only goes 6-12 feet. And if you are not in tons of light (outside) then use the flash and get closer. It helps the camera focus.

see now from what i heard the sd550 has an amazingly powerful flash, and the quality of the pics is excellent, compared to "very good" on the w1.
