Digital Illusions have decided to discontinue the New York office, Trauma Studios. All of the twelve employees are offered employment at the head office in Stockholm. The Canadian office will continue to function as a satellite studio. The operations are based on working with gaming concepts, mainly expansion packs, based on technology developed in Stockholm.

- The conditions have changed and the future plans of the company differ considerably from when Trauma Studios was acquired in September of 2004. The acquisition of Trauma Studios was nevertheless particularly motivated. The deal contained value in form of rights to trademarks as well as a new game concept, says Thomas Skoglund, the chairman of the board of Digital Illusions.

- We will from now on focus on the growth of the Swedish operations, says Patrick Svderlund, the CEO of Digital Illusions.

That blows, they take all of Trauma's ideas and then they dump them.

isn't trauma the studio that made Desert Combat?
Yes they are, Dice hired them to help with BF2 (or DC2) and now they are getting rid of them.

Yup. I think it's funny. They buy the only modern warefare mod for BF42 (thats of any significance anyhow), copy it's idea in the form of 'Battlefield 2' and then say "meh, we don't need that company anymore".

They did buy them for 500k though, which is pretty good money for some part time mod work.

Poor Frank Delise. I spoke to him on MSN frequently back when DC was less popular and I was debating applying to join the DC team and he seemed like a bit of a cock tbh... a very high and mighty type of guy... same goes for CT Sketch (who is still on my MSN list). Goetterfunke who came to them from EOD mod was cool though.

hmmmm your job moves from NY to Sweden .....and that's a problem?

I would personally move because even though DI are a company pwned by E$A$ they seem to be a pretty cool company to work for.

unlike north americans most europeans speak more than one language

Yeah, I don't see the problem either. If my boss would tell me: we're packing this place up and we're moving abroad, I'd go in a heartbeat. Change is good.

"we're packing this place up and we're moving to Detriot"

doesnt have as much imapct as:

"we're packing this place up and we're moving Fiji"

:D

Anyone who wants to move to Sweden is free to stay in my closet(It's pretty spacey, used to be 2 different closets), for the cheap price of 10 USD a month :p

Is that negotiable?

Does seem a shame to lay off the team though, and I agree with what others have said, it does smack of taking their mod then dumping them afterwards.
Also, it raises questions about any potential BF3s EA have planned down the line

Sweet, housing for 10 dollars, I am sure the government would provide everything else I need!
