Direct X 8 or 9?

I only have a direct X 8 card (At least I think, its a GForce 4 Ti 4200 64mb), and i was wandering if it's worth upgrading to a Direct X 9 card, like the new radeons. How much better is the Direct X 9? Am I really missing out on anything by using directX 8?

Yes, it's worth it to buy a DX.9 card. HL2 will be optomized for the DX.9.

I was having dinner and I just got through which is why I didn't reply sooner. But anyway:

Direct X 9 is a must. It is the future of gaming. You will need it for Half-Life 2, Doom 3, Call Of Duty -(If I remember it right). And a lot of other games that will be coming out in the furure.
