Hey there guys, i've got a Powercolor 9600xt and i know that i wont be able to get blistering frames with it so i was wondering does source enable to run Half-Life 2 in direct x 8 to up your frame rate??
HL2 will run on any graphics card from DX 7 and up. There should be an option (or a command line) to switch DX modes.
From the information we have, HL2 is going to run around 30 FPS at 1024 resolution with a 9600XT. That is with all features enabled. You should be fine, so don't worry. Even if they did bump up the graphics (ie textures and geometry), you will still be playing pretty close to the maximum settings in HL2.
