DirectX is has not passed the Windows Logo testing?

Sorry if this has been covered, but it's been a while since I've loaded up HL2, and now I need the latest version of DirectX in order to play. Fair enough, so I go onto the microsoft site and download DX 9.0c - except when installing it comes up with the error that "The software you are installing has not passed the Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP - The software will not be installed" - these kind of errors crop up every so often, normally there is the option to select "Install anyway" - but I'm not given that option, it just tells me it will not install the software. This basically means I can't play HL2 or run anything that requires the latest DirectX - which is a bit of a bummer! Is there a solution?

where did you download it from? make sure to grab it from the MS servers...either your copy is a fake or MS screwed up on this one quite good

Downloaded from the Microsoft website. First you have to verify that your Windows is genuine, which it does without problem, and then starts the download. It's once it starts installing it comes up with the error! Has anyone else had this problem?

Try updating your videocard drivers.
