Disable Downloading of Sounds

Can anyone tell me, is there a way to turn off the downloading of custom sounds when you connect to a server? It's fairly annoying at times. Especially since I don't usually play on the same servers everyday. Thanks in advance.

umm usually if the server host it u have to use it but i think if u go into the console and type in allowdownload 0 it should turn it off but it then u wont be able to play custom maps

I think you'll have to d/l the sounds...idunno, I remember trying that earlier, and it didn't quite work how i planed, i kept on crashing on join

i think the allowdownload thing is just for downloading people's sprays, not sure if it stops you downloading the sound files servers use for ingame stuff

I think it is used for sprays,maps,sounds,models,etc.. but I could be wrong on 1 or 2 of those

yeahhhhhhhhhhh i hate this, im on dial up and having to download retarded sound files ticks me off, i would love to be able to bypass this

cl_allowdownload 0 whack that i ur comfig its worth a try like duffers20 said it stops u being able to see other ppls sprays as it wont download them.

i havnt tested in on maps, sounds etc its worth a try
