I don't think this has been posted before, but I'll delete it if it has. There's a discrepency between the US and UK official EA websites.

UK EA Website said:
Online multiplayer action with 100+ players on the PC.

US EA Website said:
Online multiplayer action with up to 64 players on the PC.

Bit of an oversight, that one.

nah, they can just cram more people in the UK for some odd reason :naughty:

The game can support more than 64, and maps in the future will possibly be released to accomodate this, since the game was originally planned to be able to play with more than 64.

with how much lag? wouldn't it make the game unplayable?

That's probably the main reason why they're only accomodating 64 at the moment, but as the netcode is fantastic, I think 100 could quite easily be met.

But you cannot advertise a feature for release that is not available in the final product. The equivalent of that would have been for Valve to have touted the gravity gun in all the HL2 footage prior to release, and then say the week before that it's not there but might be added at a later date if anyone feels like doing it.

Well call a lawyer, because EA representatives have said in a couple of interviews that 100+ players is supported. It's all very confused.

This is still misleading but...

64 is the real number.

Unofficially we have tested software up to 100 players, so potentially if a really dedicated ISP company wanted, they could probably run 100 player games with a super server. But they would get no support from EA.
