For the last 6 months or so my rig hasn't let me run Windows Disk Cleanup - it happily runs along to 3 bars and just sits there, doing nothing! Sometimes it eventually says "not responding" sometimes it does nothing until I end the task but it never gets past 3 bars! I even left it running once for about 4hrs before giving up.
I wouldn't be SO bothered but I recently I deleted unwanted files, uninstalled old software, defragged and I accidentally ran the cleanup (winxp home confused me with the way it sets out it's menus).
So I ctrl-alt-del and end the task and restart but my rig is suddenly running like a 3 legged tortoise in treacle!
Well last time I was stupid enough to make this mistake a system restore put things right again, but not this time, I've tried 4 seperate restores to different points but all are as slow as each other.
And just to clarify, by slow I mean applications such as explorer, or opening a folder, starting a game will take a long time to start the FIRST time I try to open them on any given boot, but will run fine if I close them and try again - but if I restart it's all crappy again.
Anyone got any suggestions? I've you've read this far ... thanks!
