I'm looking for software to make a complete image of my hard drives. I want to make a "perfect copy" right after I install Windows so that if I make any glorified ****-ups, I can just delete everything and copy back over that image. I know Windows comes with a backup utility, but I'm more interested in a whole backup and restore, not by individual files. I was looking at Norton Ghost 10 (because I'm not sure of any others). What you guys recommend and what have your experiences have been with Ghost or any other software you may have used. Thanks.

I used ghost a long time ago......never used the backups though, so I couldn't tell you if it worked.....
In my experience, I would just go through and copy important stuff to an external HDD every week.......its tedious, but at least you know it works.

We probably will get an external drive sometime soon, but I'd be concerned that I would have problems copying system or program files when they're in use. I would have to probably boot into dos or something (which wouldn't work because I'm using all NTFS). Maybe using PartitionMagic I can just copy a logical drive to another logical drive. I'm not sure I haven't used either.

Norton ghost is probably the most popular program for making an exact copy of a drive. There are other programs if you just want to backup files and other things from the my documents folder along with internet favs. I usually do it manually via drag/drop. :D
And reinstall programs from the CD if I need to.

Well, I decided to download the trial software for Ghost. It said it's not supported on Windows Server 2003. Sad. Any other suggestions?
