Display Problems!

Has anyone any advice on some display problems i have incountered.
I booted up computer yesterday normally! ie reported POST as been succesful. Then booted up windows normally. But as the XP
pro screen went blank the blue screen for selecting user profile failed to show. This also includes windows 98se as well.
This countined to happen for several hours except for a few times a got an image. that was extremly hard to read. All funny vertical lines distorting the origonal image.
Has anyone any abvice as to what may be causing this problem,
and possible solutions.
COULD THIS BE MY GRAPHICS CARD CAUSING THIS!
It is a ATI 9800 pro not OC. Just in side warrenty by three weeks.

It looks like there is a problem with your graphics card drivers. I would boot into safe mode, revert back to older drivers, drop down the resolution (incase you accidently set it too high for the monitor you are using) and then try and boot normally. If the problem persists, try the card in another pc, and then if you still are having problems, get it changed. It sounds like a driver issue, this has happened to me in the past and reverting back or installing newer drivers fixes the problem.
