my first finished map, pretty much, just needs tweaking, might add a bit more brush detail, but i feel it could get too crowded and busy for an MP map, built for max 4 players, with two airboats, minimal debris , two simple indoor sections, a wear house and an airboat parking area, focusing on improvising with weapons between 'hopefully' even spaced areas of manipulatable oil barrels boxs, and explosive barrels, a sofa or 2, and other odd bits, which are heavier and deadlier if you can get your hands on them.

but yeh, im really getting into this now,, im testing this one at the moment, adding and taking away, but im really enjoying it now ive got to grips with the basics,.

Im hoping to do a much larger more ambitious map , and "he shall call it"... dm_Dam .. or something. Basically I sketched out this plan for a Dam map , that ive already started , the Dam (surface and some interior parts) and the Valley, and some of the surrounding area are going to be in play. Ill post some pics of it when texture lighting and water effects go on, standard stuff, but im getting good at displacement mapping valley's with the practice, so it shud look purdy.

anyway enough waffle..

Some suggestions:
In the first pic that concrete looks kinda blocky and bare. A railing would look good or maybe some of those things people tie boats to (sorry can't think of the name). The second pic is kinda funny with the lighting and the props aren't exactly warehouse things. I think some hanging lights with some light_spot enitities would look more appropriate. Also you could put some destroyed cars or SOMETHING else in there that matches the theme. Don't just put props in for the sake of having them. In the fourth pic those rock outcroppings look somewhat out of place. Maybe they are too high up or something. You could sink them into the ground some or perhaps add some other rocks so they stand out less.

As far as I can tell you haven't made a 3d skybox which would take away from the sealed off feeling of the map. Some smokestacks and distant factories would be pretty good for that. Also your environment lighting looks a little off. It isn't too bad, but the map seems a little too shadowy. A little tweaking of the angle/pitch/brightness might help.
Having said all that, this is a rather impressive first map. It is certainly nicer than my first attempt at mapping. Looking forward to seeing more from you.

it is a 3d skybox. but thanks for your suggestions, ill give it a try :). I especially second the idea for some railings, and backdrop props, perhaps in the 3d skybox, I live in that warehouse for the moment, so the 800 watt flood light, TV and seating arrangement stays for the moment :P.
