Hello everyone, first time in these forums, but I come bringing gifts of some sort. After many test and comments from the steampowered forums people, this is my map at its current stage.

that is cool, i like the general layout, lots of space, and a central pit like area to get grubby, could be fun,, most likely get people fighting in the middle, and some top gun will fire grenades and explosive barrels down below and yoink killage,, I like it, if thats the kind of light level you were aiming for..?,brighten it up a little as you go along, but i think its important to keep those open spaces... keep it up it looks gr8
 
Heres what my colleague had to say:

doctor_simons: these maps really, in 100% truth, only look good because they copy the exact theme of HL2, thus taking full advantages of their extremely narrow use textures
doctor_simons: this map has like 4 polygons
doctor_simons: 1 nice effect, the beams coming out of those streetlights
doctor_simons: but they didnt get the glow effect right
doctor_simons: look at the building
doctor_simons: its a f**king block
doctor_simons: look at that roof
doctor_simons: theres not even a gutter
doctor_simons: no1 would ever make such a stupid looking building
doctor_simons: and whats that crane doing there? going on vacation?!?!

Doctor Gordon, I would like to know more about why you dislike my map. Yeah basic structure is simple, Part of my design, the crane does not have a magnet on it because this is the rundown section of the factories. The glow effect this is being used by the point_spotlight entity, I'm fairly unsure on how you would like this to look but please inform me.
 
Yeah gordon hates any map that isnt his own...i've been following your map on steampowered triv and i tried a beta a while back, good job on it man, looks like its gonna be fun online too whenever i drag myself out of hammer

That's generally the point of making a map for HL2DM - making a, you know, HL2-themed map.
 
Looks like a great start. I would really want you to detail this map up nicely, maby put some mountains in the 3d skybox
 
Thanks guys, Evil I wanted to put mountians in my skybox, but had problems getting them to work right and fps problems. I should be able top add them now though. Do I make 1 brush in displace it then throw it in the mini skybox with the camera itdoes the rest or am I going to have to make a hollow spot for the camera to sit in?
