I am a Christan and yes I somewhat believe in the Christan religon. I am not a absolute firm believer of the whole religon. But I have my own thoughts on all religons.

What you all know (I hope) is that ALL religons, no matter where they came from are made up by PEOPLE and not a certain GOD. However, this does not mean that god doesn't exist. I think of religons as guidelines on how to find god. Some people believe god governs the religon..which of course there wrong (at least in my view). I think it is very important not to take your religon seriously..that just creates a lot of problems for you and for other people. Some religons I thought were good turned out to be kind of bad..for example, the Catholic religon. The Catholic religon says you cannot wear any sort of condom when you have intercourse with someone..they say it's immoral. In my view, this means that the Catholic religon seems that getting AIDS and dying is more acceptable than keeping yourself safe. There are other examples but I think that one is more than enough. I believe in some sort of God, but I don't really look to a religon to find god..I just look into myself and also other people. Sometimes I look to Christanity for guidelines but do not follow them specifically. Some people might say a religon is just a way of controling people, in which they are right..to a point. In the end, a person can choose if they think the religon is acceptable to them or not. That's my thoughts on religons and god....

Catholic represent  But I haven't been to church in years literally, and I don't plan on going any time soon :cat:

I dont have religion, i'm agnostic basically. I am however facinated by buhdism (which is actually more of a lifestyle then a religion). I have a jewish father and protestant mother.

Ionno.. i've been a pretty serious Christian for the past few years now, but the more ya learn about the Bible, the more like crap it sounds.

As of right now, i do believe in a diety, but not the diety of any specific religion...

You don't need to go to church..it's just a way of celebrating..that's all...it's not like, "If I don't go to church I'll go to hell" type thing..that's just stupid people thinking...or it may be psycho religon freaks saying that as well.

The bible should not be taken as a history book...it's a big long story (I'm not saying it's all made up). What I believe the bible is, is that the bible is just a rule book for the religon..also it tells you stories on what the religon means to other people and to you. That's really all it is.

I was raised Unitarian, then I became atheist because I had no proof god existed, then I became agnostic because I realized there wasn't really any proof he DIDN'T exist, either...

...then I had a little epiphany and realized it wasn't about PROOF. It's about faith. Now I believe in a higher force, but I've developed a distaste for organized religion...

I'm Catholic.

By the way, the example you gave was incorrect- the papacy is against -any- premarital sex. They aren't saying "You can have sex so long as you don't wear a condom." Their view is to practice abstinence.

I'm Mormon, and have been doing that for a long time now.

This is basically my exact story except raised Jewish

I am an athiest. I worship the "smug satisfaction of feeling superior" (thats a quote from the daily show)

Ditto, except Christian raised

i'm a part of the "smug athiest" catagory, with a slight tilt towards bhudhism because it's the lesser of all evils.

Opus dei here.

hehe, Jk

athiest, I believe in god, but I think the bible is jut pure, well, you know..

the definition of "Athiest" is a person who does not believe in the exist in a devine being or diety. you Adrian would be "thiest"

My parents raised me with the philosophy that I should choose my own beliefs. They didn't try to sway my opinion toward either christianity which was their background or towards athiesm. In the end I ended up being agnostic, although my idea of god is that it is not a concious intelligent being at all. More like an unthinking entity that exists as a physical force we havn't discovered yet.

Thanks a lot, I allways mess up the word in english.

It's pretty hard for your parents not to sway your beliefs. Think of the amount of time you spent around your parents as a kid. You probably picked up a lot of stuff even if you didn't want to.

born catholic, saw the light when I was 11, been agnostic ever since ...religion has it's place for some people ..but mostly it's a hinderance to the human race

I am a theist. I believe in god, but i don't believe he interferes in human life or existance.

Agnostic all the way baby, but I've got a personal set of morals I stick to - nothing to do with getting into heaven or karma, just that I think as advanced animals that can determine between good and bad it's nice to actually bother being good.

And one thing I don't get about the bible... hopefully someone can help me out here... you say it is a guideline for finding God... but the people who wrote it didn't find God, isn't this the blind leading the blind really? I mean, seriously.

well, the old testament is based on the jewish torah ..the religion split with jesus (jews didnt recognise jesus as the messiah, so they're still waiting ..although there's an orthodox group who believe their messiah is a rabbi living in new york ..cant remember his name)

Raised as a Catholic, but I switched over to Atheism when I was about 13.

I don't believe in religions or Gods or divinity. I subscribe to science, reason and logic.

I believe in science,
in MY view christianity is flawed due to the lack of them talking about dinosaurs in the story of creation

Im not going on a rant tho cos the last christian i tried to explain this too started to cry and walked off

Flawed for many many more reasons than that.

"OK, I got one word for you... "dinosaurs".... You know what they said to me? "God put those there to test our faith" Yeah, I think God put you here to test MY faith."

Bill Hicks RIP

Ban religion altogether, its causing conflicts and wars.
.. actually just have one religion. the religion believing that there is a heaven where your passed over relatives go to and look over you. Have no bs bible, cos IMO the bible was written by a group of guys making it up as they go along to fool the next generation.

im not sure that there is a god. There is certainly not a god in human form, and that IF there was a god, hes like a massive cloud of dust or somthing.. (you know what i mean).

and this crap that he built the earth in 6 days and rested on the 7th doesnt fool me 1 bit at all. if that was true, what would he had done on the 8th day? make mars or venus? i jus find it very hard to believe in that.

id go for the science answer, where there was the "big bang" and over the course of trillions of years out galaxy has formed into 9 (or more) planets circling our star (aka sun)lol.

most things on earth are because of the billions of years of weathering. if you get me....

yes, I was baptized Catholic and I practice my faith actively. Although some of my views are more protestant, I still go to my Catholic church. I don't care about the big bang or the 6 day creation story or if we evolved from monkeys. All I know is I'm here and my faith gives me strength and that humans aren't just biology or just animals with a higher form of intelligence than all the other species. No, we are something special indeed.

best quote ever!!!!

I don't need other peoples crazy beliefs forced upon me, i'm intelligent enough to weigh up the evidence and make my own belief.

So, to sum it up ... Holy books are just books full of stories, there was no jesus, no prophets, and God is not an ageing man.

I do believe in a life force though, a higher entity that keeps the ball rolling... so to speak.

So there it is. I may be completely wrong, but its better to be myself and be wrong than to have beliefs forced on me by others and be wrong anyway.

Or they may be right, but who cares. I'm special ;)

I am a non church going Christian. I do practice however, but its between me and god, not anyone else.

nope, i do wish that i could belive in a God though....

I have one picture in my mind... I was 5 years old, me and the family was visiting some friends in Sweden (im from denmark, moved here 5 years ago). They had a very large house its called a trilling ( old farm/mansion in 3 parts).
Now the oldest part of this was not in use any more, roof was done etc. It was summer, mid day, and i walked into the building, up large stairs that ran all the way up to the 3. floor, very dark and cold inside. So when i came to the first platuax, there was a window frame (no window), and the light just poured in (difficult to explain, as i was afraid of the dark), it just felt so safe there, in that circle of light, with the dust flying through it making it shine bright, i could almost feel how warm it must had been in the circle. But i dint step into it.

This is the only thing that keeps me from saying, there is no God, but its not enough for me to say, there is a God....

My girlfriend is kind of a catholic without choice really. I guess I have to pretend I'm a Christian too to make her parents happy sometimes. She hates the whole thing though, and mostly sleeps whenever she can at gatherings and events she has to go to.
