If russian people get angry at you, they throw grenades. D: D: D:

Was searching for grenades and found this:

http://www.mosnews.com/news/2005/09/07/dogsavior.shtml

A dog saved the lives of its owner and three more people in Russia’s Western city of Belgorod, when it threw itself over the ready-to-explode hand grenade, Russian news agencies reported Wednesday. The young man who threw the grenade was sentenced to 5.5 years behind bars, the official Prosecutor’s Office website added.

Sergei Kulikov, 18, was drunk on the night of the incident, and got enraged when a pensioner remarked on his behavior. In response to the remark, the young man punched the pensioner and his companion, the agencies report. However this was enough for him and shouting out threats, Kulikov took out a hand grenade and threw it at the people.

Luckily, a dog who was walking nearby with its lady owner, rushed to the grenade and covered it with its body when it exploded. The dog died, but the four people around, including the dog’s owner, survived and only received light injuries.

Belgorod Court found Sergei Kulikov guilty of attempted murder, hooliganism and illegally keeping weapons, and sentenced him to 5.6 years of prison, the agencies added.

Poor dog, stupid people.

Stupid dog, stupid people.

The dog probably thought it was ballplaytime.

Sorry, I found that really funny.

I've been to Russia.

In my experience, people who get angry at you stagger forwards, throw up and collapse.

I've only met 2 real Russians (as in they lived in russia and were only here for school). They both lived in my dorm, one of them was a total asshole and stole $60 from my wallet while I was in the shower, and the other was a really cool guy and we would entertain the dorm on slow Sunday nights with our wrestling acrobatics. Although he too, had a bit of an attitude problem...

you'd think that but no the media clearly says it was some super observant dog who knew how to identify a handgernade and also knew that if it covered the gernade with it's body it's human masters would be spared ..thank god for little dogs

seriously the media needs a swift kick in the gonads for sesationalizing every last bit of news

"man named Stern takes washroom break, distinct possibility he may or may not wash his hands, more on tonight's newscast (including interviews with his grade school teacher and his former highschool sweetheart "he always washed his hands when he was with me"), stay tuned, we'll have live coverage as events unfold"

The dog, being just a simple pet, wouldn't of had the instincts to throw itself over a handgrenade. It probably wanted to play with the item thrown.

A military dog on the other hand, you never know.. depending on how its trained.

I hate the media....every part of it

I agree ..however how many reluctant military dogs you think there'd be if they knew the "ball" they were chasing was about to blow them to tiny little bits ..if given free will I dont think there'd be many dogs in the military

Heheh dogs of the military... hehe..

Ok, too much FMA manga for me.

I hope you haven't been looking at Manga porn, Numbers.

What? huh?

I meant that when I saw dog and military I instantly thought FMA.. :p

Fortunately I don't think dogs were ever used for that purpose. They were more useful in sniffing out landmines and warning soldiers.

This practice saved many lives during WWII.

As for going to Russia... I want to some day. Or Siberia. Just to use the language when I finish learning it. WOOT.

If you goto Siberia, you'll probably not get much chance to use the language... goto Moscow!

Isn't Russian one of the languages they use in Siberia?

I want to go though to explore the vast frozen landscapes :) :) :)

Same reason I want to go to Antartica. I'll probably die an icecube.

Yeah, but there's like 1 person per 100km there.

Oh... I already know that the populations there are very small. I had just wanted to go there for the exploration. the natives there apparently find mammoth bones in the ice all the time... It'd be awesome joining with them to learn about surviving in the harsh enviroment. But that is just a crazy dream.

well I wont get into a debate about who has more of a right to exist

What do you mean? The dogs didn't run OVER the mines... they could smell them and they alerted the troops... who then brought an engineer up or other means of disabling a minefield.

I don't know what that has to do with who has more of a right to exist.

The dogs who don't meet a certain criteria of mine detection are made into mincemeat rations for the army.

Quite a treat compared to what they normally get.

The original story appears to be fake...

But sadly, many of the worse prejudices one might have against Russia are, in fact, true.

Oooo Mammoth Bones... is siberia as cold as your old house in alaska(IS ALASKA EVEN COLD? D: ) Raziaar?
