Do P4 presscott cores suck?

Im getting a Dell with a 9800 pro,2.8ghz CPU,and 1gb of RAM.The only thing im worrying about is the processor.

Wuts so bad about it?

And would this comp. run hl2 in all its glory?

They run really hot compared to other cpu's. As far as performance goes they are less then other p4's but only buy a few fps.

It sucks as a CPU and design. Something I personally would stay away from.
It functions and plays games if that's what you mean.

I wouldn't say they're THAT bad. The new 3.6ghz are pretty good, they hold their own against the Extreme Edition. Supposedly their going to keep getting better and better as they reach higher clock speeds. But anything under 3.6ghz I wouldn't get, they're not as good as the Northwoods. But now they're Socket 775, not 478.
