Do Valve actually want us to buy DOD:S and HL:S

Why is it that, on steam at the moment, if u click on purchase options for HL:source, you cannot buy it, it has to come with HL SIlver or Gold, that is silly, do they actually wanna sell it or what?
I want to buy it but cant, that is not the way to do business in my book. Also, with day of defeat, you look at purchase options and it looks to be exaactly the same, is there to be no way to buy them individually, without buying the HL2 packs, cos i already got bronze, i feel left out, and victimized by steam just because i didnt opt for their stupid overpriced deals, to get a few posters, i got my HL2 for £25, so i wasnt goin to pay their stupid prices. Please can someone tell me if i will ever be able to play either of these games, cos it would seem like valve dont actually want to sell them to me?

Not sure about HL:S but they will soon let you buy CS:S and DoD:S individually and in retail, so I have heard.

I fail to see how the Steam offers are over-priced, they offer more stuff (excluding Bronze) for a comparable price, and besides, why would you expect more games for the same price? Thats just stupid.

I believe that you will not be able to buy HL: S sepperately, however, as DoD: S is published by Activision, rather than VUG, its enitrely possible that it may be released independantly at a later date. This is however by no means gosbel, so if this is wrong someone please correct me.

If you wanted HL: S and DoD: S, why didn't you just purchase Silver for the $10 extra?

You should of bought the Silver version. I wanted DOD:Source so I go Silver. If people get DOD:source and HL:Source for free then I want the difference from bronze and SIlver paid back.

P.S Can't you upgrade your package?

Not if you buy bronze in stores - which I did. They had no other versions and I wanted a copy of HL2 I could touch, also my preload messed up about 1/2 way through so I gave up on using Steam to get it.

I hope they release the extra games individually sometime.

Half-Life: Source is Half-Life except on the Source engine, the only differences are that the water looks alot better, there are shadows, and the guns handle wierd.

I'm harsh. I hate when people complain that they don't get something for free. Lazy ass ****ers can't get a job they don't deserve to have fun. You don't like how much it costs, don't ****ing buy it. They (valve and DOD team) put alot of work into DOD, it being free for HL:1 was nice. You can't expect them to put alot more work converting it to Source, and give it to you for free. Yes it would be nice, it's always nice to get something for free. Valve isn't some charity, its company. If they have thier employees, which they are paying, working on something I expect them to charge me for thier product. Its not like HL2 was 70 dollars regular. Silver was what 59.99 which came with DOD:S and HL:S? The price of alot of new releases. For those of you who got the retail that was your choice. Valve couldn't have even packaged DOD:S and HL:S with the retail if they wanted too, they are being published under a diffrent company(activision) and not VUG.

If he's inbetween jobs on unemployed he shouldn't be even playing video games. He has more important things he should be thinking about (ie getting a job). Thats my 2 cents, and by the way. I support most social programs and support more funding for most of them(ie for students, single mothers, refugees). But if he is in between jobs, sitting there on welfare and he's playing video games all day I'm fully in favour of kicking him out onto the streets.

Well actually i got the game for 20 quid, they didnt have the dod package at the shop. Hard work into dod? its just the same but with source engine? and i think its 40 quid with dod and i dont see the point for paying 20 quid for dod with better graphics so i dont understand why they dont make it free download.

I don't know what his life is like? Your right I don't. But expecting someone to do work for you for free is completly unrealistic. People deserve money for thier hard work. Especially a team of people which has been nice enough to let us play for free on HL1 for years. Mod teams deliver very hard work too and they dont ask money in return.

Cant believe u lot, i am not a freeloader, and i have a job, so f*** u, haters! Get your eyes tested. because by no means did i want to get them for free i merely wanted to know how much they would cost, if they ever are available individually, u know cos, i live in England, u know, that little island over the atlantic, which gave u ur language! I understand the work that goes into these games, and would happily pay £30 for DOD:S alone, its just i can see no way of gettin HL:S alone atm so i thought dod may go the same way.

My mistake tommy1987. I was directing my posting at Gift, I should have mentioned that somewhere, sorry. Oh DrunkPanda, there is a shift key for a reason. The people that worked on DOD and all the other mods have put alot of work into thier mods. It ticks me off when people complain about things not being released or bugs or in this case, people actually getting some money out of all thier hard work. They did that work for free, when they could find time after school and work. They deserve to finnaly get some money out of it, not to be called ****ers. I'd guess that they will avaliable seperatly in stores under Activision(like cs retail) but that is just my speculation.
