Do you find yourself playing/purchasing more games to detract your attention from HL2

I don't think about Half-Life 2 all the time, i mean, when it comes out, yeah great!!! But until then, i got a few other games(and exams:s) to occupy me...

hah, i know sorry. this is my first ever poll and i didn't really know what i was doing. one second i was making the choices and accidently pressed submit or something and then the poll was made and i couldn't retract it for editting.

How bout a 3rd option, neither. Hl 2 is of course something I am very much looking forward to playing, but theres plenty of other great games out that I enjoy playing. Natural selection, day of defeat, far cry, thief deadly shadows, call of duty, vietcong etc etc...

I'm stuck playing Counter-Strike (mainly fy_snow) lol. MY friend borrowed UT2004 when I was in the shower and he snatched it and left lol. Obsession. I will probably get Psi-Ops for PS2 and DRIV3R for PS2 or PC, and also Spiderman 2 and nam '67. They all come out in June, too. 11 days 'til Psi-Ops!

XIII: Voice acting.... anyone. Its got an interesting story, and a rather cool cell shaded comic book look(good idea since its based on a comic book).
Splinter Cell: Fun, but way too quick
Far Cry: Damn it was a bit tough to install. Looks stunning. It is a hell of a lot of fun to play.

damn looks like I am getting more and more Ubisoft games.

Well, I buy games, but not necessarily to get my mind off Half-Life 2 - just because I'm a gamer and I enjoy playing games. Recently I've picked up UT2k4, Splinter Cell: PT and Hitman: Contracts. I plan to get Driver 3, Ninja Gaiden and Chronicles of Riddick all for Xbox soon.

I'm not buying games specifically to tide me over until Half-Life 2's release, but there are definitely some games that I probably wouldn't have purchased had I already had Half-Life 2. Far Cry comes immediately to mind.

Not many games I really want are out at the moment. Last one I got was FarCry I think. Games I'm looking forward to buying in the near future are DooM 3, Half-Life 2 and Silent Hill 4. Not much else is interesting me.

I might pick up Baulders Gate, that should keep my occupied.

Honestly I probably wouldn't have even known about FarCry had it not been that I was waiting for HL2 and someone mentioned that the demo for FarCry was out. I played it, then when HL2 still wasn't released, I bought the game. Strangely enough I bought XIII on the day they announced HL2 was delayed. Of course it was also my birthday(coincidence or psychic phenomenon).

HL2 isn't a big deal to me, its like any other game coming out this year. I can -pass the time playing Americas Army if needed, but with Driv3r so close I should be set for the summer.

I find myself becoming increasingly cynical at the entire gaming industry as the weeks, months and years roll by. Watching as the console market swallows up a huge amount of developers and stalwart PC developers jumping ship to be part of the more profitable console market (Blizzard....you bitches). I watch as mediocre games and pointless money making addons are churned out by the truckload. I watch as games lose their heart and soul to be replaced by glitter and gloss.

There is only one not-so-faint flame burning over at Valve headquarters threatening to set the PC game industry alight and take back what's rightfully theirs. Now all we have to do is play the waiting game.....

Being a poor student, I'm very much part of the "download a demo" community. I'm currently enjoying the RTS "Soldiers: Heroes of WW2" from Codemasters. I would strongly recommend it to anyone who was a fan of the Commando's series. I'm not a particular fan of the genre but the game caught my eye and the gameplay is very good.

I'm also playing TOCA Race Driver 2 a lot (with its excellent online mode) which takes up a lot of my time. Perfect for racing fans.

i think ur poll is kinda messed up.
the reason? well im gonna buy HL2 no matter what.. so it has no bearing on what other games i buy or don't buy.

for me personally its more of a $$$ matter.
i just can't go around spending moolah on every game that looks good (although i wish i could :cheese: ) so i have to choose wisely.
