Do you guys debate?

I like to debate in forums sometimes and some of you guys that don't=already know me I am a halflifesource.com moderator. Most guys that do know me consider me big asshole and jerk and others just downright like me. Right now I am just cruising around trying to find a place to debate. The reason I am asking this question is because I am looking at these threads and see no debates. Maybe I am not looking hard enough but are you allowed to debate and I mean downright flaming. I love that. Or is this againist the rules. I am the mod OF HOF so I am quite comfortable for this enviroment.

Do you fight about politics, deaths, rights, gay marriages stuff like that. B/c I want some flames. :flame: :flame: :flame: :flame: :flame: :flame:

Believe me we debate a lot here, but flaming doesn't happen all that often and usually when it does it doesn't last long.

I hope you don't yell "HL2.net sucks" to everyone if you get banned.. I'd prefer to see you change your mind about debating and not trying to piss people off, because it has no purpose than at-the-minute entertainment and in the long run it has only bad effects.

I actually find it intresesting I learn a lot about other peoples cultures that way. But that problem is the insisted asshole on the other end of the computer insists on he is right and only his opinion matters. And I am more open when it comes down to convo's this way.

Probably in your vocabulary but in a HOF thread I made it was to find the meaning or origin of the word flame. If you do some research it actually is debating in a way. And a flame is not **** you mother ****in asshat. No thats not a flame its just stupid rambling. To me its when somebody beats them in a topic open to debate. When you **** the other guy in the end and piss him off because he lost the debate. Flaming was a word made back than by a radio station in the U.S. in the 1970's use to debate over alot of things. Thus the word flame came alive. But that info I got from somebody else about the radio thing. But the meaning change over time. But I try to keep it original.

My no I would never bash your guys site. I am a mod. And I feel to it that I need to respect the community of the Halflife sites around here. But I don't really care what people think of me in the long run. Hate me love me I don't care. Because one thing I won't care about you.

look, everybody loeves hl2, so here you get all kinds of people, with all kinds of contradicting ideologies. (you see, for example I'm from iraq .. and in one thread about iraq I was about to explode .. lol)

debates don't happen here everyday, but when they happen .. they extend to 30 or 40 pages so that's probably good news for you.

there are some debates on this site, but the tend to get sidetracked, or someone who knows-not-of-what-they-speak takes over the thread, which often dissolves into flames (again, by our measure, personal attacks and insults) or spam. These are thread closing offenses, if it continues. So any particularily livid arguments usually end badly...

@Shadow Debate....Its often a grey area really. What some people call, as you put it, opening your mind, others call just plain insulting. Its difficult catering for everyons needs, and you have to set some rules down that everyone lives by. Its sad that you feel those might constrict you here, but the rules are there to be followed none the less.

You know what you actually raise my curiosity of staying here. For one reason I am very intrigued to see the other person aspect of mind from another country. I am for one is not the typical American closed minded in internation affairs. I love to learn And I would love it for you to pm me and have a discussion why you hate them Like you listing all the reasons you do. I know nothing about the Muslim religion but I am willing to learn.

I'm not sure I can help you much there .. I have a kind of "social anxiety" and this extends to the internet; umm ..I don't know how to put it ... um, I usually don't like to read what others have to say about my harsh comments, so I'm not very good at engaging in hot debates, I'll soom leave these threads or something. Sometimes I don't .. but most of the time I do.
I really don't know why, I think I have alot of other phobias too, I fear hieghts, dark ...... I even fear half-life o_o some parts of it are scary lol.

Anyway, so I guess a hot topic just started?
I think it's really hard to explain much about the situation iniraq without a good background about the arabic culture.
A key element here is dignity and honor and (there is another word .. but it either doesn't have an accurate translation, or I don't know it), these things are probably more important than one's life.
Occupation is one form of humiliation an avarage arab cannot withstand .. bah. nvm, I can talk about this for hours, but it would need some preperation
